I would love to share a “no pins” curved technique. The Drunkard’s Path now has another new look
using the Crazy Curve Template. This looks wonderful in batiks light, medium and dark or black and
white. The sky is the limit for colors.

Learn to sew the block on your machine with no pins.
You will be hooked on this method in no time.
This can be an exercise on technique, or stay and finish a quilt top.

This is a wonderful McKenna Ryan pattern, which can be made with her fabric line or use your own batiks or
others fabric. More fabric choices make it interesting.

The largest flower is 10 inches across.
3 yards of heat and bond lite (or steam a seam 2)

These little fabric pennants are my new love in the quilting world. Reusable, decorative, creative, good gifts,
patriotic, seasonal… There is no end to the possibilities when making pennants!
We will make three or four types of pennants in class and you will understand the potential with this project. If you
have a few quilt blocks or UFO’s hanging around, this is a good place to cut them up, embellish, decorate and
rejuvenate the fabric that first inspired you.

“Torn Strip Appliqué”

At the 2010 retreat I introduced this technique in a very short class. This year we will spend the full day with it to
give you time to become comfortable with the technique, and make your own art. Torn Strip Appliqué is a new
technique that I have been developing for landscapes and art quilts. The potential for creativity with this technique
is amazing, and I look forward to see what happens here! In class we will start with a post card sized project (I will
supply all the materials for this part). I will help you get set up with another art piece. Warning: this project is
messy! Threads everywhere…

1 m Peltex # 72F (Two sided fusible stiff
interfacing)
½ m backing fabric
½ m base fabric
Cotton fabric for strips. If you want to make a landscape, bring a pile of landscape fabric.
If you want to make an art piece, just bring a pile with the colours you would like to use.
I like the way batik fabric looks in this project, but commercial cottons work too.

This class returns by request from last year’s quilters! We will make 3 different postcards in this class.
I am supplying kits so just bring a box of thread, your machine and basic sewing tools (rotary
cutter/mat/ruler, scissors etc).
I do recommend special sewing machine needles for this projectTopstitch #12 or 14, and Microtex Sharp needles #8
Techniques used in this class will include thread painting, Broderie Persé, landscapes and
mixed media art cards.
