REASONING AOA Charipersons Award Ron Warren Craigleith Mike Shikofsky aka Shicker Searchmont Dave Bradley LSDA Ron has been involved heavily in ski racing as long as I can remember ski racing. As a Coach with the SOD, OST, equipment rep, and volunteer on various AOA, and SOD committees. Ron is currently the Chair of the SOD board and is very involved to help make SOD/AOA the best it can be with better align and collaboration of all the Club programs. Ron is always available for questions and is happy to talk ski racing 24/7 and is 100% committed to making AOA and us core values the best in the Country. Shicker has worked tirelessly to arrange amazing events in Searchmont. He was the Chair of this year's U16 OCUP Finals as well as the NOD U14 OCUP stop and Mealy Classic. With a huge smile and infectious laugh Shicker keeps everyone's spirits up on those cold days. He even takes the time to make his famous clam chowder for the volunteers. It is my honour to nominate my friend who works so hard to help so many others. Dave has worked tirelessly as a volunteer at all levels in the 18 years since retiring from coaching (although he has kept his coaching certification 50 up to date all these years). He has served on Club and Division boards, spearheaded entry level development and SnowStars programming, and filled‐in with coaching duties when an extra hand was needed. He is currently the Vice‐Alpine Chair of the LSDA, represents the LSDA on the Alpine Ontario Athletics Committee, was the Event Chair for the U16 Ontario Provincial Championships in 2015,the event chair for the Thunder Bay FIS O‐Cup Series Races, and most recently, the event chair for the U16 Mackenzie Investments Canadian National Alpine Ski Championships 2017. Exceptional, Province leading performances by Thunder Bay athletes during the recent U16 Nationals, point to the growing success of our local ski development model “Building our Future”. So much so, that one of our home town boys earned a spot to represent Canada in Topolino Italy, as one of the 6 selected athletes for the world championship style event. David was not only one of the creators of the model, but it’s caretaker, development master and cheerleader. Dave’s philosophy toward skill, athlete and club development has evolved with the very broad background he has enjoyed over his 50 years in the sport. Coming from a small, yet passionate and eager ski community as a child, and experiencing the sport as an athlete, coach, instructor, parent, volunteer, sponsor and sport leader, Dave has developed a very strong view on the potential of Alpine Ski Racing within Canada. As well, like other builders, Dave has managed to amass a huge network of friends and colleagues in ski racing and has been able to leverage these relationships very positively for the betterment of the sport whether it be locally in the LSDA or provincially with Alpine Ontario or even nationally with ACA. Dave and the U16 Nationals ROC worked very closely with Alpine Ontario and Alpine Canada in the months leading up to and during the recent and massively successful first‐ever, U16 National Championships, hosted in Thunder Bay.
