Made from a Rivoli stone in a pavé setting you can choose from a variety of bail (top loop) styles. Thread it onto a chain, a ribbon or a purpose-made seed bead string To complete these projects you will need to refer to the technique download Rivolis- Make a Pavé Setting all these pendants were made by Louisa The blue Puccini Pendant is made with matt black seed beads, silver lined sapphire size 15/0 beads, pewter grey pearls and a sapphire blue Rivoli stone. To Make the Puccini Necklace You Will Need One 14mm topaz Rivoli stone (FS105) 8g of bronze size 11/0 seed beads (RC264) A 0.5g of galvanised yellow gold size 15/0 seed beads (15-1053) B Twenty-eight cream 3mm pearl beads (GP303) C A pair of gilt calotte crimps (FN061) A small lobster clasp (FN023) Two 5mm jump rings (FN064) Grey size D Nymo beading thread The fuchsia pink Rivoli in this Puccini Pendant is set in silver lined pink seed beads and pewter pearls. Note the double loop bail to take a thicker velvet cord or chunky chain. 1 The Rivoli - Referring to the Rivolis- Make a Pavé Setting download make a surround for the Rivoli stone. Leave the thread ends attached. 2 Adding the Bail - The bail (top loop) is made from A beads. Deep amethyst is accentuated with metallic silver seed beads and deep lilac pearls. A pearl has been added to the bail for an extra accent. Reposition the needle to emerge from the bottom A bead of a 3A strap (adjacent to the 10C ring at the back of the setting). Thread on 11A. Pass through the A bead of the 3A strap again to draw up the loop (fig 1). Pass the needle through the beads of the loop two more times to make it strong. Finish off both ends of the thread neatly and securely. 3 Stringing the Necklace - You need to decide on your preferred finished length. fig 1 The central portion of the necklace design measures 19cm. The clasp will add 1.5cm. Subtract 20.5cm (19 + 1.5) (8”) from your preferred finished length and divide the answer in half. Revelling in Rivolis Puccini Pendant page 2 of 2 www.spellboundbead.co.uk 4 Prepare the needle with 1.6m of double thread. Separate the ends and thread 1A onto one end. Place both ends together and make an overhand knot to trap the bead and leave 15cm tails (fig 2). fig 2 Pull the bead down to the knot to make an anchor Pass the needle through the first calotte crimp (inside to outside of the cups) to position the anchor inside the cups (fig 3). 6 Thread on your calculated length of A beads as before. Pass through the first C bead back along the first row (fig 5). fig 5 Thread on 30A and pass through the next C bead. Thread on 3A and pass back through the next C bead. Thread on 3A and pass back through the next C bead. Thread on 40A. Pass the needle through the pendant loop and the next C bead along (to the other side of the pendant). Complete the second row to match the other side of the necklace. 7 Pass the needle through the hole in the calotte to emerge alongside the first anchor. Tie the needle thread to the tail threads with two or three secure overhand knots. fig 3 Thread on your calculated length of A beads from Step 3. Seal the knots with a dab of nail polish or quick drying glue and close the calottes to conceal the anchor beads. Add the clasp with the jump rings. Thread on 1C, 30A, 1C, 3A, 1C, 3A, 1C and 40A. Pass the needle through the pendant loop and position the pendant halfway along the 40A. Thread on 1C, 3A, 1C, 3A, 1C, 30A and 1C. Finish the sequence with your calculated length of beads from Step 3. 5 Pass the needle through the hole in the calotte to emerge on the inside of the cup. Thread on 1A and pass back through the hole to pull the A bead into an anchor inside the cups (fig 4). You can now add the second row of beads. fig 4 © www.spellboundbead.co.uk 2017
