Believe it or not, we are already beginning plans for next year. Some
of the plans include soliciting support from you, the parent community. We have several opportunities for your involvement in next year’s
events and activities.
New Parent Mentor- Every year we look to support our new families
as they enter into LP. One method of support has been to pair up a
new family with a current family. Our intent is simply to welcome the
new family and possibly build a new relationship. In our experience
this has been a very low key way to make a big impact. Some families
never reach out and that is entirely ok. The purpose is to help them
feel welcome in our community. If your letter does that, mission
accomplished! We are looking for current families to support new
families in this way: write a welcome letter in August to the new family and give them your contact information should they want to connect
further. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Pantone in the office
at [email protected].
School Leadership Team Representative – We have a group that
meets regularly throughout the year to support our school community.
This team is comprised of a representative of each staff team, building
administration and a parent representative. This two year commitment
involves meeting regularly throughout the year, offering a parent
perspective in conversations and providing feedback on events,
structures, etc. Angie Oliver is rotating off at the end of this year. If
you are interested in obtaining information or would like to be
considered for this position, please contact Mrs. Stochl at
[email protected].
PTSA co chair – There is always a need for help when it comes to
chairing, co-chairing or volunteering with a variety of PTSA events.
Please contact Michelle Cunningham at [email protected]
if you’d like more information on what opportunities are available for
next year.
As you can see, every opportUNITY has the potential to impact our
commUNITY in a positive way. We need YOU to make it happen.
Please let us know how you’d like to help!

What did you do on your summer vacation? Next fall, your answer could be: “I built and programed a robot,
learned how to code, used a 3-D printer to design my own car or jewelry, created and designed earthquake
resistant buildings, or used bioluminescence for a client’s project.” With the goal of bringing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) alive through authentic hands-on activities, District 54’s Summer
STEM Academy creates experiences that expands on the interests of students.
The District 54 Summer STEM Academy offers:
 A range of fun camps for a variety of interests for students in 1st through 8th grade
 Courses with hands-on, project-based curricula
 Instruction by District 54 teachers, experienced with STEM, in a positive environment
 An opportunity to conduct experiments using tools, equipment and technology used within the realworld
Registration for the Summer STEM Academy is $40.00 per student, checks/ money orders are to be made
payable to Schaumburg School District 54, which includes a camp t-shirt. Registration opens on Monday,
March 13th and closes on Monday, April 17th. Information and registration forms have been sent home with

A HUGE thank you to Karen Powers, Jody Bryant, Julia Lee and Dawn Jonen for
their help with last week’s Dairy Queen & Papa John’s Lunch Extreme. When
things went completely unexpectedly, these ladies stepped in and did what
was needed to get the job done and get our kids fed!
A special kudos to Mrs. Stochl, Mrs. Falvo, Mrs. Pantone, Mrs. Kraft, and Mrs.
Stenberg for stepping in to help, as well. It takes a village, and LP is the best
one to be a part of!! Our kids were super flexible and handled it all so well!
-The Lunch Extreme Committee
Thank you to over 40 volunteers who helped make Dad N Me night a HUGE
success. Your support allowed over 150 Dads to share a fun filled night with
over 250 students. 900 meatballs were served, over 160 Home Depot
Projects and over 100 STEM projects were built, and nearly 150 people tried
to escape from our Escape Rooms.
The joy continued into the weekend because 71 families
won cakes during the cake walk and had the opportunity
to eat cake for breakfast!!
In addition, thanks to all who support the PTSA Fundraising committees throughout the year so this fun-filled
event can be FREE!
