Rylie’s Story
After watching Rylie’s intensive therapy sessions on
ChildServe’s Universal Exercise Unit, few people would
guess that the sweet, smiling three-year-old used to cry
during her physical therapy appointments. Since beginning
services at ChildServe at nine months old, Rylie has attended
occupational and physical therapy to help improve her
independence and range of motion.

Nearing the end of a typical pregnancy, Rylie’s mother,
Diane, unexpectedly went into cardiac arrest several
days before she was scheduled to be induced. Diane’s
emergency caused Rylie to suffer a brain injury,
which resulted in many physical limitations and
developmental delays. Diane searched for eight
months for the right therapy program to support
Rylie’s needs, finally finding a solution at
ChildServe after careful consideration.
“Rylie has learned to do things we feared she
would never do,” says Diane. “There are so
many people who have helped get her to where
she is today. They not only have taught her,
but my husband and I as well. This is not an
easy journey. Without the care and support she
receives, we know she wouldn't be the amazing
little girl that she is.”

moments is to know what ‘quality of life’ means.”
