No parallel chairman in our party :Ondo LP. The Moment. THE Labour Party in Ondo State said there is no truth in the rumor that the party is factionised in the state. Reacting to a newspaper report that two factional chairmen of the LP are at loggerheads in the state, the party, through a statement in Akure yesterday and signed by Director of Publicity, Prince Koye Odogiyan, said nothing could be farther from the truth, adding that the party has only one chairman in the state in the person of Mr. Olumide Ogidan. According to the LP, Kunle Odidi, who is being claimed to be a factional chairman of LP in the state, had since ceased to be a member of the Labour Party and known to be an avowed member of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). The statement explained that the ACN is only afraid of a recall and confused about how to legitimise the intended defection of an LP Senator, who has been romancing the ACN, but has not found a legal ground to jump boat. ‘This is the height of reckless politicking. How can people be spreading falsehood just because they want people to have the impression that there is crisis when none exists? ‘The Labour Party chose a state chairman in the person of Barr. Ogidan in the presence of party members and monitored by INEC in a very successful and hitch free congress. ‘There was no single voice of dissent and it’s unbelievable that some people could be talking about a factional chairman even when Ogidan emerged without any controversy’, it said. Reacting further, the LP observed that some people have not been happy with the unprecedented peace in the state’s LP since the exit of its former chairman, Olaiya Oni, hence, the attempt to create an imaginary crisis. The statement mentioned, however, that the ploy has failed, adding that Kunle Odidi, who is being mentioned as the factional chairman of the party had publicly declared for the ACN over two months ago. ‘Those behind the story of factionalisation of the party were not members of the party as they had left the party a long time ago’.
