Throttle Valve for T-10® Bypass on HP PROTECTUS® III Fire Service Meters OVERVIEW: The throttle valve is used in the 4”, 6”, 8”, and 10” HP PROTECTUS® III with a T-10® bypass. Below is a picture of the throttle valve. The throttle valve slides right into and fits in the outlet of the T-10 meter on the bypass. FUNCTION: The spring loaded throttle valve will compress as the flow rate through the HP PROTECUTS III increases. When this happens the throttle valve regulates the amount of flow moving through the T-10 bypass according to the following chart: T-10 Size on HP PIII Size Regulated T-10 Flow Rate Bypass 4" 1" 10 GPM 6" 1 1/2" 15 GPM 8" 2" 20 GPM 10" 2" 20 GPM This serves two purposes. o It protects the T-10 from seeing excessive flow. o It also forces more water through the turbine side to move the meter through cross over. If you do not operate the meter with a throttle valve: o You run the risk of over running the T-10 and prematurely wearing out the T-10 bypass. o You will affect where/when the meter enters crossover. PART NUMBER AND ORDERING: We do sell T-10 meters with the throttle valve already installed. The meter part numbers are: T-10 Size on T-10 with Throttle Valve as HP PIII Size Bypass Assembly 4" 1" 12001-000 6" 1 1/2" 12001-100 8" 2" 12001-200 10" 2" 12001-200 Note: The T-10 with a throttle valve in it is not tested. o This is because the throttle valve regulates the flow rate below the upper end. Before the throttle valve is put in the T-10, the T-10 gets tested to make sure it is operating properly. The meter does not come with a register on it. The register will have to be purchased separately. The part number for the registers is covered on the register end number print. The part number is RX8XXX. SUMMARY: The customer should not operate the HP PROTECUTS III without the throttle valve installed in the T-10 on the bypass. o The T-10 runs the risk of being damaged. o The crossover will be altered. The throttle valve is only present on units with a T-10 bypass. We do sell meters that have the throttle valve already installed. We do sell throttle valves as individual components for the customer to install themselves. PSD THROTTLE VALVE 08.15 © Copyright 2015, Neptune Technology Group Inc.
