Students will attain a sense of how to develop a commercial that is interesting, compelling, and memorable. They will also develop an understanding of how Super Bowl commercials have evolved and changed over the years. Students will work in small groups to develop a commercial that could realistically be shown at the Super Bowl. Students will share their ideas with the entire class. Students will need access to the internet, so they can study Super Bowl commercials. The instructor will begin with an overview of Super Bowl commercials and their importance as cultural commodities. Students can develop their commercials as simple entities (drawings) or as something more elaborate (Power Point or even a film) depending upon time constraints and how the instructor presents this assignment.
