There are currently two ways: Login to http://my.jhu.edu with your JHED ID and click on the Outlook Live link on the left or Login to http://outlook.com/johnshopkins with your Outlook Live ID (JHED [email protected]). What is the difference between my JHED ID and password and my Outlook Live ID and password? Your JHED ID (Johns Hopkins Enterprise Directory Identification, e.g. jsmith1) is a username and password specific to Johns Hopkins resources, such as Blackboard and ISIS. It is stored in a system maintained by Johns Hopkins. Your Outlook Live ID (e.g. [email protected]) is a username and password specific to Outlook Live and other Microsoft Live services. It is stored in a system maintained by Microsoft. Your Outlook Live ID will be in the form of JHED [email protected], but the password is not synchronized with your JHED ID. They are separate. How do I configure my mobile device to connect to Outlook Live? You need to export the Contacts from your SON mailbox to a CSV file and import it to Outlook Live: 1. Export your SON Contacts to a CSV file: a. Login to a computer in room 309 or 310 b. Open Microsoft Outlook (available in the Start Menu) c. It will connect to your SON mailbox d. Click on the File menu and select: i. Import and Export… ii. Export to a File iii. There is currently no supported method to import SON Calendars to Outlook Live. If you only have a small number of appointments, we recommend you open your SON calendar as a reference and manually recreate each item in Outlook Live. Is Outlook Live HIPAA Compliant? No, the SON does not consider sending e-mail messages to and from your Outlook Live mailbox that contain identifiable patient information to be HIPAA compliant. As an alternative, JShare, available in the JHED portal at http://my.jhu.edu, is HIPAA compliant and can be used for the secure exchange of sensitive information. What is my e-mail address in Outlook Live? Technically, your mailbox will have two e-mail addresses associated with it: JHED [email protected] and JHED [email protected]. When you send email, it will come from JHED [email protected]. Your Windows Live ID is JHED [email protected]. Will my @son.jhmi.edu e-mail address still work? Yes, for at least two years, all e-mail sent to your SON mailbox will be redirected to your Outlook Live mailbox. Can I find SON Distribution Lists in the Outlook Live Address Book? You can find only SON student distribution lists in the Address Book. They all begin with SONCan I find other SON students in the Outlook Live Address Book? Yes, you can find other SON students who are using Outlook Live in the Address Book. You will also see non-SON students in the Address Book. Can I find SON faculty and staff in the Outlook Live Address Book? No, you cannot currently find SON faculty and staff in the Address Book. A solution is in the process of being developed to enable this, but no implementation time has been established. In the meantime, you can send e-mails through Blackboard or find e-mail addresses at http://my.jhu.edu. Can faculty and staff find students in the Microsoft Exchange Address Book? Yes, students with Outlook Live mailboxes will also appear in the Microsoft Exchange Address Book, which is used by faculty and staff. How much space does my Outlook Live mailbox have? The current quota size limit is 10GB. This is almost 60 times larger than current SON student mailboxes. Will my Outlook Live mailbox be deleted once I leave the School of Nursing or Johns Hopkins University? No, your Outlook Live mailbox is a lifetime account and will not be deleted once you leave the SON or JHU. Likewise, you will be able to retain your @jhu.edu e-mail address.
