The Tampa Bay Heart Walk is a non-competitive walk that encourages people to take steps toward a heart-healthy lifestyle. This is an opportunity for corporate teams and individuals to improve their health by walking and simultaneously raising funds to help fight heart disease and stroke. It is a true celebration of health and wellness and more than 37,000 people are expected to attend. The Heart Walk is a free event and is open to the community. Join us! Why Walk? Physical inactivity significantly increases the risk of heart disease and stroke - our nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers. Seventy percent of Americans don’t get enough exercise. Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s groundbreaking national movement that calls on all Americans and their employers to create a culture of physical activity and live healthier lives through walking. Where do the proceeds go? The American Heart Association has funded more than $19.2 million in research grants in Tampa Bay since 1990. Our funded research has led to the discovery and development of life-saving treatments used every day by hospitals and doctors in Tampa Bay. In addition to saving lives, we’re working to improve the overall cardiovascular health of all Americans through educational programs and legislation that promote healthy living.
