XRAY SERVICE AVAILABLE
medimaging Avalon boasts a brand new Shimadzu Digital x-ray machine allowing
us to capture x-rays without the use of chemicals or films, nor the need to wait for
cassettes to be processed. The benefit of this DR (Digital Radiography) unit is that
x-rays are visible immediately after the image is taken, allowing greater precision
and increased efficiency.

OBSTETRIC ULTRASOUND
Pregnancy scanning has come a long way over the last 35 years and we are proud to
have a pregnancy specialist sonologist that works at our ultrasound clinics along with
our radiologists. These doctors report scans and oversee a team of qualified and
experienced sonographers. The sonographers are well trained in all aspects of pregnancy scanning including the complicated scans that can be performed on high risk
pregnancies.
We perform all pregnancy and post natal scans on highly specialised ultrasound
machines that produce high class images. The staff will also liaise by phone with
patients LMC, specialist or hospital if there is a concern or urgent problem regarding
their pregnancy.

Hi, our names are Lee Hughes and Katrina Woodham. We are both mothers and have 9 children between us.

We feel privileged to share the pregnancy and birthing journey with women and their families. We are
both experienced midwives who have worked in hospital and community settings in the past. We share a
similar midwifery philosophy. We will support you in your birth journey and believe that it is vital to involve
you in all your birthing choices. We are committed to professional evidence-based practice & attend
education to keep up to date. While most women can expect to remain healthy and active in pregnancy,
we liaise with obstetric services, newborn unit, GPs and other health professionals when needed. We back
each other up in case of fatigue and for weekends off, continuing education and planned breaks. We are
both married and between us we are mothers of five adult sons.

We all know that injuries, aches and sprains can really affect life. They can limit
livelihoods, interrupt dreams and cast a sense of uncertainty over the future.
Without treatment, these conditions can become worse and even seem to
dominate life. But they don’t have to.
As physios, we’re in the business of helping people get back to work, to independence and to the lifestyles they enjoy. We’ve been doing that for over a

How is measles spread?
Measles is a highly infectious virus that spreads easily from person to person through the air,
via breathing, coughing and sneezing. It affects both children and adults. People with
measles are infectious 5 days before and until 5 days after the rash appears. If you think you
have come into contact with someone who has measles you may be advised to stay away
from work, school and public places for 14 days to ensure you/your child do not become
infected and pass measles to others. Call your GP or Healthline on 0800 611 116 as soon as
possible for advice.
Immunisation is the best way to protect against the disease. If you or any children in your
care for are not up to date with immunisations, then contact your GP or practice nurse and
arrange to catch up as soon as possible.
