About the Artist
Faith and Reason
Michael DeVetter
michaeldevetter.com
This work is intended to show the struggle between rational
thought (man) and religious faith. The circle is symbolic of pure
thought, truth, God. The rectangle is the area where man lies
in the intellectual or rational thought. The overlap is where the
men of God exist metaphorically. The cross-like figures and the
blue and white colors recall spirituality, and the reds and bonelike ribs at the bottom recall the struggles of men. The crosses
intentionally cross into the area of man as God is in everyone.
The black figure is a representative of man struggling for truth;
lightly reaching the pure thought of God.
