Job Description
Position Purpose
The Elementary School Assistant Principal assists the principal in providing
professional leadership to organize, administer, supervise, and evaluate the Nardin
Academy Mission. To accomplish these tasks, the Elementary School Assistant
Principal works closely with the community, administration and staff.
Qualifications
 Master’s degree from an accredited educational institution
 Minimum of five (5) years classroom teaching experience with prior
administrative experience preferred
 Practicing Catholic who possesses the knowledge to share in the truths of the
Catholic faith with students and parents, and staff
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 Knowledge of curriculum, and instructional programs and practices for
appropriate level
 Skill to work with people in an effective manner
 Knowledge of scheduling and supervision
 Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
 Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize
Responsibilities
 Assists in creating and maintaining the school vision


Maintains visibility and accessibility on the school campus and at school-related
activities and events
Collaborates with staff and leadership team on new teacher orientation and
mentoring program
Fosters Effective Relationships
 Builds trust and fosters positive working relationships
 Shares professional growth activities with staff to improve curriculum
and better fulfill Nardin’s mission
 Assists with parent communication
 Maintains positive, constructive and professional relationships with
students, their families and colleagues
Nurtures and sustains a school culture that values and supports learning
 Together with principal, evaluates and documents all staff performance
 Consults with principal concerning performance goals for staff
 Acts as mentor to those teachers who need guidance, direction and
reinforcement
 Assists in planning and delivering professional development sessions
 Teaches one class in the elementary school
Management and Operations
 Serves as member of the principal's management team
 Assumes the role of acting principal when the principal is out
 Assists in creating annual class schedules
 Assists in the selection and supervision of substitute personnel
 Assists in the selection of faculty
 Willing to take on additional responsibilities as necessary to fulfill
Nardin’s mission
Strategic Planning
 Instrumental in enhancing the educational experience for our students
thus maximizing their potential
 Assists in developing cultural competencies that will engage our students
in the world as set by the example of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary
 Assists in developing and implementing Nardin family/ community
involvement in accordance with our strategic plan, thus creating a
dynamic Nardin Community
