Potassium sulfate (SOP)
Main nutrients:
50% potassium (K20)
17% sulfur (S)
Chemical and physical properties
Chemical formula: K2S04
Chemical denomination: potassium sulfate
Shape and color: white crystals
Density (kg/m3): 1200
Solubility: 12g/100ml of water
Critical humidity level (up to 30 degrees Celsius): 96%
Acidity level equivalent to calcium carbonate: neutral
Salinity level: 42.6
Compatibility: compatible with most fertilizers, especially with natural
phosphates, ordinary and ammonium super phosphates, dicalcium phosphates, and potassium chloride. This product allows for the formation of
double salts, particularly with magnesium sulfate and calcium.
Use and storage: this product is extremely hygroscopic. It contains a high
critical humidity level which can be decreased when mixed with calcium
nitrate, sodium nitrate, and ammonium nitrate.

Soil application: this product contains potassium (K+) and sulfur in the
form of sulfate (SO4-2). This mixture is more effective in acid soils
(pH<7) than in alkaline soils (pH>7). Mixing this product with soluble
calcium salts creates CaSO4 which has a low solubility level, which in turn
temporarily decreases the availability of SO4-2.
