PLENARY SESSION
On the 12th of November, an event
under the headline “e-CREATivE @
The Romanesque Road – a showcase
of modern destination marketing” took
place in the Representation Office of
Saxony-Anhalt in Brussels. The event
was disclosed by Mr. Secretary of
State Dr. Klang from the Ministry of
Regional Development and Transport
of Saxony-Anhalt. Project Manager
Ken Gericke explained how good
practices of modern destination
marketing showed that an effective
tourism marketing along cultural routes
is
possible.
Informationand
communication technologies could contribute to social and rural innovations, as well as
develop potentials of regional assets. Therefore, it is important to create a basis of local
knowledge and to involve a wide range of stakeholders.
The first step was to illustrate the relations between the Romanesque Road, the European
Cultural Route TRANSROMANICA and the e-CREATE project, within the framework of the
TRANSROMANICA-Showcase presentation.
Project partners of the TRANSROMANICA network and of the participating regions then
explained how to implement integrated project approaches. This way one was able to gain
an insight in successfully implemented concepts of the e-CREATE project in the region of
Tâmega and Sousa in Portugal, the County of Donegal in Ireland, the region Usti in the
Czech Republic, the County of Trondelag in Norway and in Saxony-Anhalt.
The representative from the city of Halberstadt, Maria Winkelmann, explained how to get
along with the “HalberStadt App”. The app can be really helpful for tourists who visit the
city for the first time and need some information about hotels and sights. Even inhabitants
can benefit from this application, for example; to look up the right contact person when
loosing ones wallet. Especially “City-Apps” which provide a wide range of services are in
great demand, Maria Winkelmann explained.
Rosário Machado from the “Rota do Românico” in Portugal once again spoke up for a
better accessibility of cultural goods. The stones are pretty, but they cannot speak for
themselves after all, said Rosário Machado.
This event provides an opportunity for the project partners of the INTERREG-Project eCREATE to present achieved results and to start a dialog with other regions and
interested parties.
e-CREATE connects 13 partners from nine Members
of the EU and Norway to bundle the resources. The
project partners aim to identify deficits of touristic,
cultural and historical routes to give suggestions how
to improve the competitiveness of companies in
touristic rural areas. A key aspect is to inform the
communities and companies about the use and
introduction of new technologies. The project, which
will end in 2014, was started in 2012 and is the
succession
of
the
INTERREG
IIB
project
TRANSROMANICA and the Central Europe project
CrossCulTour.
