Anchor: Good day. Welcome to Burst News.
What has animals, clowns, and popcorn? The
circus does. The big show came to our town
today. Let’s talk to our reporter. Tell us how the
circus got here.
Reporter: This circus travels by train.
Workers load everything onto the train.
The Big Top tent goes on the train. The
animals ride on the train too. People who
work in the circus eat and sleep on the train.
Anchor: I see the Big Top tent behind you.
That’s where people go inside to see the show.
Reporter, who are you with?
Reporter: I’m with the Ringmaster. What is
your job?

Ringmaster: I’m the leader of the circus.
I lead the circus parade. The parade lets
people see the different acts that will perform.
Reporter: Why are you called the
ringmaster?
Ringmaster: There are three big rings
inside the tent. Each ring has a different act.
That means three acts perform at the same
time. I tell people what is happening in the
rings. I tell them where to look next too. I
may say, “Ladies and gentleman. Children
of all ages. Look at the first ring. See the
amazing Bo Brothers tame lions.”
Reporter: How would you tell people
about another act?

Ringmaster: I would say, “Rez the Rope
Walker is in the center ring. Look up high.
Rez walks across a thin rope. Watch her
juggle as she walks. Will she fall?”
Anchor: Watch out behind you, Reporter!
A clown has a pie. Jump out of the way!
Ringmaster: The pie missed the reporter.
But it hit me.
Clown: Want to smell my flower?
Reporter: Okay. Oh no! I got water in
my nose.
Clown: Do you like my nose?
Reporter: Yes. Why is it big and red?

Clown: Do you see these three wooden
sticks? I juggle them. I throw them all up in
the air. Then they start coming down. I can
catch two in my hands.
Reporter: What happens to the third stick?
Clown: It always hits me on my nose. That
is why my nose is big and red. The people all
laugh at me. That makes me happy.
Reporter: How do you make children laugh?
Clown: I dance around with my big, floppy
shoes. Then I trip and fall right in front of
them. I jump right up and grin at them with my
red, black, and yellow face. I always act silly.
Reporter: Here is a kid waiting to get inside.
Have you been to the circus before?

Kid at Circus: Yes, I see it whenever it’s in
town. My grandfather took my dad when he
was a kid. Now all of us are here to see it
together. I can’t wait. I wish the circus came
to town every day.
Reporter: Which acts do you want to see?
Clown: Choose the clowns!
Kid at Circus: Yes, clowns are one of my
favorite acts. I hope this circus has a dog act
too. The dogs jump through hoops. Some dogs
can dance. I also want to see the man who
eats fire. He’s amazing. There are new acts
too. I heard there is a lady who can fit her
body inside a small box. Have you seen her?
Reporter: No. How does she do that?

Kid at Circus: It’s a trick. Where did the
clown go?
Clown: I’m over here with a hoop. I will jump
through it just like the dogs do. Here I go.
Kid at Circus: Look! That clown fell right on
his nose. Now he is laughing and tumbling.
Anchor: Reporter, the circus is going to
begin. I see the Ringmaster is in front of the
parade. How long is the circus in town?
Reporter: It is here until Sunday.
Anchor: Thanks, Reporter. Everyone, be sure
to get your tickets before the train takes the
circus to the next town. Thanks for watching
Burst News.
