MARC ZENNER

Corporate Finance Advisory
Marc Zenner is the co-head of J.P. Morgan’s Corporate Finance Advisory.
Corporate Finance Advisory provides senior level corporate finance advice
to major global corporations. Experts on Marc’s team provide leadership in
advancing and levering J.P. Morgan’s innovation efforts regarding new capital markets and corporate finance developments, the structuring of complex
transactions, and their valuation implications. Marc recently advised firms
across various industries on spinoffs, activism defense strategies, shareholder
distributions, internal capital allocation, capital structure, potential strategic
combinations, as well as risk and liquidity management. Marc authors widely
distributed reports addressing timely corporate finance issues and trends, is
often quoted in the press, and has made over hundred boards presentations
on the above topics.
Before joining J.P. Morgan in 2007, Marc was Global Head of the Financial Strategy Group, a corporate finance
advisory group within the Investment Banking Division of Citi’s Global Markets. Marc was a Managing Director and US Head of The Financial Markets Advisory group within ABN AMRO’s Financial Markets Division in
New York from July 2003 to April 2004. From 2000 to 2003, Marc was a Director in the Financial Strategy Group
at Citi.
Prior to his career in investment banking, Marc was the Chairman of the Finance and Economics Area and a
Professor of Finance at The University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School (in Chapel Hill). Marc
taught in Chapel Hill from 1989 to 2000. Marc also taught corporate finance, international finance, risk management, and investments at Purdue University, Indiana University, and for various major corporations. Marc
published extensively in the major finance journals such as The Journal of Financial Economics, The Journal of
Finance, The Review of Financial Studies, The Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Financial Management, The Journal of Corporate Finance and The Journal of Applied Corporate Finance. Marc served as an
Associate Editor to Financial Management and served three terms as Practitioner Board Member for Financial
Management.
Marc is a U.S. citizen, was born in Brussels and earned B.Sc. degrees in commercial engineering (with great distinction) and education at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (1985), an MBA at the City University in London
(1986), and a Ph.D. in financial economics at Purdue University (1989). Marc is a Chartered Financial Analyst
(CFA, since 1995), a Fulbright scholar, a British Council Fellow. Marc was a widely acclaimed educator winning
MBA, Ph.D., and University-wide teaching awards at The University of North Carolina. He was named one
of the best business school professors by Business Week. Marc is married, has three sons, and speaks English,
Dutch, French, Spanish, and German.
