Event Time: 10:00am briefing (ALL RUNNERS MUST ATTEND)
10:30am race start.
Location: Victoria Park Athletics Track, WA4 1DU
Cut Off: 7 hours
Race day is just a few days away now, and excitement is building for
the Inaugural Winter Track Marathon.
Getting to the Track
Both train stations (Warrington Bank Quay & Warrington Central) are
less than a 15-minute walk to the start line. Warrington Bus Station is
around a 20-minute walk to the start. There is a large car park onsite
within Victoria Park, however the park also hosts a parkrun on the
Saturday morning, so anticipate the car park to be busy.
Number Collection
Race numbers & timing chips will be available for collection from
9:30am. Only entrants will be allowed into the check-in area.
Course Support
Around the track we will have aid stations stocked with Energy Gels,
Water and a limited amount of Isotonic Drinks. The nature of a Track
Marathon allows you the runner more control over your course
support. So we do encourage you to bring your own supplies, that
best suit the race your are intending to run.
Runner Facilities
Within the Athletics stand there are changing areas, toilets and a
storage room for baggage. Please DO NOT leave any valuables,
cash or jewellery in your baggage, the event and venue are not
responsible for lost or stolen items.
Race Briefing
All runners are required to attend a briefing at the start of each day. At
the briefing we will go over all particulars of the event, including:
• The etiquette of running laps on a track
• How to track your laps
• How to transition team members
• Lane positions
• Direction changes
Supporter Facilities
Supporters are welcome to bring their own refreshments to the track.
There are also a number of cafes within a short walk of the park.
Refreshments on the track are for runners only. Toilets are available
for public use.
Music
You’ve been submitting your tracks for the event playlist, and we
must say there are some bangers in there. If you have any other song
requests, feel free to email us via [email protected].
Official Race Results
Official race results will be posted each day via the Contest Running
Co website and via social media channels. Due to the nature of the
event, it may take us some time to finalise the results, but we will
endeavour to publish provisional results within a few hours of the
event finish each day. Official Race Timing
Your timing tag is separate to your race number. Official times begin
as you cross the start line and stop when you complete the distance.
For each lap you will receive a separate split time. This race will be
using the MYLAPS Prochip transponder for the electronic registration
of your time.
Please read the following instructions to receive your correct time
after the race.
• Your timing transponder is a red, active Prochip, which should
be worn on the Velcro ankle strap provided. It can be worn on
either ankle.
• Please ensure you wear your timing transponder at all times
whilst competing.
• When you aren’t competing, you will be required to keep a
minimum of 5 metres clear of the timing points to ensure you
don’t continue to be detected when not running. We will set out
taped ‘exclusion zones’ which must be kept clear at all times.
• Do not misplace your transponder before the race, or mix it with
those of your teammates. YOUR chip must be worn by only you.
After the race, when you have finished your laps, and will no longer
be running, you must return your transponder to us at the information
desk. We will exchange your transponder for your finisher medal and
beer token. You must return your own transponder, and non-returns
will be charged.
No transponder = No medal or beer
Claiming your Medal and Finisher Beer
When you have finished your section, you can visit the information
desk where we will collect your timing chip and give you your medal
and beer token.
Notes for Solo Runners
What if I need to use the toilet?
We will go over this in the briefing, but you will be able to exit the
track to use the facilities and then re-enter the track to continue your
laps.
How will I know what lap I’m on?
We will have a team member on hand, to show you how you are
getting on with your laps. There will also be a screen displaying your
current lap number as you trigger the timing point.
Notes for Team Runners
Do we have to split the distance evenly?
No! As a team you can split the total number of laps, and hop on and
off the track as many times as you like. In total your team needs to
complete the full 26.2 miles and 1 member of the team must be on
the track at all times.
How will I know what lap I’m on?
Whilst we have a team member on hand to assist with the tracking of
lap numbers, as a team it would be a great help to everyone if you
kept track of your teammates progress. Why not bring along selection
of number cards or a white board? There will also be a screen
displaying your current lap number as you trigger the timing point.
