Practice Nurses New to Childhood and Adults Immunisations - 2 Day course 9th & 18th November 2016 (must attend both days) Registration at 9.15am From 9.30am to 4.00pm Toorak Hotel, Chestnut Avenue, Torquay, Devon TQ2 5JS Lunch will be provided on both days This course will meet the national minimum standards required for immunisation training Aim: To provide patients with accurate information on vaccine preventable diseases and vaccination. Administer vaccines safely and effectively Learning outcomes: By the end of the course the student will be able to: Demonstrate knowledge of The different factors that inform vaccine policy decisions and how to access current vaccine policy via the Green Book electronically, the Public Health England Letters and interim Updates The current UK vaccine schedule Demonstrate knowledge and explain the following; The difference between innate, passive and active immunity The basic immune response to a vaccine and Identify the type of vaccine used to prevent each disease The legal aspects of supply and administration of vaccination. Define the role and the limitations of patient group directions and patient specific directions Describe the cold chain and the importance of its maintenance and work safely to avoid breaches Correct administration of vaccination Recognise and manage anaphylaxis and to distinguish differential diagnosis.
