Single Stream Recycling is here in Fairfield
Residents who have Private Haulers that collect Trash and Recycling at
their homes, plus all Schools and Municipal Buildings in Fairfield, can
utilize our Single Stream Recycling System. Residents can combine all
Recyclables together into one Container for collection. Materials (no food
tainted items or trash) that you can mix together and Recycle are:
Paper: Newspaper, Inserts, Mixed Paper, Junk Mail, Magazines, Catalogs,
Papers-All Colors, Phone Books, Chip Board, Pasta Boxes, Cereal Boxes,
Cartons, Tissue Boxes, Juice Boxes (caps and straws removed), all Milk
Containers, Paper Egg Containers, Phone Books, Clean Pizza Boxes,
Corrugated Cardboard, Paper Bags , Paper Back Books, All Office Paper
Larger Corrugated Boxes can be Recycled at the Recycling Center on
Richard White Way(One Rod Highway).
Glass: All Food and Drink Glass Jars, Bottles, no caps.
Metal: Cans and Food Trays including Aluminum rinsed and uncrushed,
Clean Pots and Pans, Empty Aerosol Cans(No Hazardous Waste Containers).
Plastic Containers: All Plastic Containers #1-7, plus the no number
containers up to 3 Gallons. Laundry, Food Storage, Soda, Juice, Black
Plastic Containers ,Small Plastic Toys, Soap Shampoo Containers etc.
With Single Stream, do not include, Plastic Bags, Hard Cover Books, Food Waste, Paper Plates, Dishes,
Styrofoam, Motor Oil or Hazardous Waste Containers, Batteries, CD Cases, Sporting Goods
Other materials that can’t be mixed with your trash and can be Recycled
at the Recycling Center are Electronic Devices, Batteries, Scrap Metal,
Clean Wood and Yard Waste (Harvest Yard Waste formerly GreenCycle),
Hazardous Waste can be dropped off in New Haven at HazWaste Central
(Regional Water Authority 90 Sargent Drive 9-12 on Saturdays only from
Mid May through the last Saturday in October) or our 1 day collection,
usually the last Saturday in August at Veterans Park.
