FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK .....
October was a great month at Carleton! Lots of activities took place to get
children involved at the school. We had the first challenge for the grade 3 and 4
Caribou Math contest, intermediate volleyball, Go Girls and Game On, to name a few of
the great things happening for our students. Many thanks to the staff and volunteers
who make these activities happen!
We are continuing to invest in our library collection, with the support of parent
council fundraising. We will once again be purchasing the Blue Spruce (primary), Silver
Birch (junior) and Red Maple (intermediate) collections of the Forest of Reading; money
collected for the school through council fundraising efforts will be used to purchase the
Silver Birch collections. A big thank you goes to our council and all of families that help
with school fundraising! We look forward to participating in the DSBN Celebrations of
Reading in the spring through our involvement in the Forest of Reading. Last year of
team of Silver Birch participants had a great day at their Celebration. An event is being
planned for the Red Maple readers as well this year.
MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS/END OF DAY PICK UPS
Please make sure you use your child’s agenda to communicate medical appointment
times. It is very disruptive when the office interrupts classes to relay messages. If you are
sending another person to pick up your child, please use the agenda for communicating that
information also. Thank you.

GRADE 8 STUDENTS AND PARENTS: MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
Starting high school is a huge step in a student's life.
While it's definitely an exciting time, it also brings with it many questions, such as
"What's life in high school really like? What programs and options are available to help
me achieve my goals?"
A great way to have your questions answered is to attend an open house. Grade 8
students and their families are invited to attend High School Open Houses from
November 30 – December 3. There is also information about open houses at
