As he drew near to the gate of the city, a man who had died was being carried out,
the only son of his mother, and she was a widow.
A large crowd from the city was with her.
When the Lord saw her, he was moved with pity for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”
He stepped forward and touched the coffin; at this the bearers halted,
and he said, “Young man, I tell you, arise!”
The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother.

Free Friday Night Movies!
6:30 pm, Friday, June 10 & 17 (Bethany/Cana)
You won’t want to miss the first movie “The Other
Son” on Friday, June 10 at 6:30 in the Bethany &
Cana Rooms. Two babies are born at about the
same me in an Israeli hospital. One is Israeli. The
other is Palesnian. They're evacuated during a
missile aack, accidentally switched and raised by
each other's families for the next 18 years. That's
the plot line. When the mistake is discovered,
how do the families react? What disturbs them
more: that their son has been raised as an enemy
or that he has been raised in another religion?
That's where "The Other Son" gets complicated.
This film is rated PG-13 and runs one hour and 45
minutes.
Social Jus5ce Lending Library Table
A7er Mass Next weekend in the Courtyard
Please enjoy the following review of a popular
story (both book and film format) in the Social
Jusce Lending Library collecon. Plan to stop by
the table next weekend to borrow one of our
many tles!
Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence by Doris Pilkington
(aka Nugi Garimara) is a heart-wrenching story of her
mother Molly. In 1931, 14 year old Molly and her two
sisters were taken away from their loving Aboriginal
family. They belonged to “the Stolen Genera*ons”,
when many Australian indigenous children from 1910 –
1970, were forcibly removed due to various
government policies, so that they could be assimilated
into white society. Placed in a government ins*tu*on
that felt more like a prison than a school, Molly decides
to lead her sisters on a 994 mile escape journey on
bare feet, despite the brutal repercussions she knew
would happen if caught. They follow the rabbit-proof
fence, facing unknown territory, wild weather, and
li1le food, with the Na*ve Police and search planes at
their backs…
A thrilling adventure as you root for Molly and her
sisters to make it home, this story will also inform you
on the severe social injus*ce Australian indigenous
communi*es faced. The child removal policies
breached many fundamental human rights, and
caused long term loss and trauma, which con*nue to
affect many Australian indigenous people today.
Like other films and books in our collecon Follow the
Rabbit Proof Fence highlights the Dignity of the
Human Person, a core value of Catholic Social
Teaching. “Our belief in the sancty of human life and
the inherent dignity of the human person is the
foundaon of all the principles of our social teaching.
We believe that every person is precious, that people
are more important than things, and that the measure
of every instuon is whether it threatens or
enhances the life and dignity of the human
person.” (U.S. Bishops, 1998)
