Initial circumstances
Padaeng Industry electrolysis plant has very hard
environment conditions so the existing machinery
started to be unreliable and there were difficulties
to find spare parts. At the same time customer
wanted to increase the plant capacity meaning
heavier load capacity for cranes.
Scope
New hoisting machinery for heavier load by same
existing speed with new limit switch package for
accurate positioning of loading device was to be
installed. Existing crane structure and runway
were carefully inspected and recalculated for new
loadings. There were two identical units ordered
with option for one more.
Solution
Hoisting machinery on the frame was factory
assembled and tested to reach short erection
time of 48 h/unit. No aluminium parts were used.
Robust shoe brake, cast iron motor frame, and
machinery frame had special painting to resist
aggressive environment.

Summary
The crane was moved to a new building at the
same time with process equipment. Changes to
the crane were carried out on the floor level during
that move. Whole project costs were about 30 %
of a new crane price.
