GPC trace for tSBT. Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) Micrograph of tSBT with Lucirin TPO Figure S2. TEM micrographs of a tSBT film with 30 wt % of Lucirin TPO, stained with OsO4 (PB appears black, PtBS gray and PtBMA white). It clearly shows the same lc-morphology as in the absence of Lucirin TPO. 1 Influence of Acetonitrile and Sulfur Monochloride on lc-morphology The swelling of a tSBT film of the typical lc-morphology in acetonitrile and subsequent crosslinking with S2Cl2 resulted in Janus sheets instead of expected Janus cylinders. TEM micrographs revealed that the lc-morphology persists after swelling in acetonitrile (see Figure S3a), while the addition of S2Cl2 causes the transition to an ul-morphology (see Figure S3b). Figure S3. TEM micrographs of tSBT bulk morphologies after one day of swelling in acetonitrile (a) and additional treatment with S2Cl2 (b, the inset shows the formed PB-lamellae in higher magnification). Samples are stained with OsO4 (PB appears black, PtBS gray and PtBMA white). Insufficient Swelling Time to Obtain Janus Ribbons After seven hours of swelling of the tSBT film in decane/acetonitrile and subsequent crosslinking, TEM micrographs indicate the development of only few Janus ribbons whereas mainly Janus cylinders are present. Figure S4. TEM micrographs of Janus cylinders transforming into Janus ribbons. Sample obtained after seven hours of swelling in decane/acetonitrile and cross-linking with S2Cl2. 2 Janus spheres Casting of a tSBT film from tert-butanol results in a lamella-sphere morphology (see Figure S5a). After crosslinking with gaseous S2Cl2 and dissolution in THF, spherical Janus particles can be seen in the TEM micrograph (see Figure S5b). Figure S5. TEM micrographs of lamella-sphere morphology of tSBT after film casting from tert-butanol (a) and of spherical Janus particles synthesized from this bulk morphology (b). 3
