Some plants contain toxins and are poisonous. Children, in particular, are at special risk. Not only are children naturally curious and more likely to ingest plants during play, but their smaller bodies react adversely to small amounts of toxins. For example, a single leaf of the common house plant Philodendron ingested by a child can be fatal. Children must be prevented from consuming these plants or their fruit!
