Spring 2017
Volunteers Make the World a Brighter Place
We are so proud of all RSVP volunteers! In 2016, 528 volunteers served 82,843
hours, at a value of $1,951,787.
On March 9th, the Nature Coast Volunteer Center held its annual Volunteer
Recognition Event at the Central Ridge Community Center and were treated to a
delicious meal catered by John Mason Catering.
To help celebrate the good work done by the volunteers who contributed to our
community over the course of the past year, Commissioners Ron Kitchen, Jeff
Kinnard and Brian Coleman participated in the event by awarding years of service
pins, and lifetime achievement awards. Also in attendance was County
Administrator Randy Oliver, Community Services Director Tobey Phillips, Support
Services Director Joanne Granger, and special guest Judy Wells of Senator Willton
Simpson’s office.
Bruce Chadbourne, President of the
Friends of NCVC spoke to the crowd,
thanking them for their volunteer service.
The staff of the Nature Coast Volunteer
Center is proud of the work being done
by all volunteers. Without you, our
community could not accomplish the
great things that only volunteers can
make happen!
Join us next year by volunteering at least 24 hours in 2017. It only takes 2 hours a
month, but your time can make the difference in our community.

Celebrate National Volunteer Week
To celebrate National
Volunteer week, the
Nature Coast Volunteer
Center will be hosting a
Volunteer Fair on
Thursday, April 27th to
showcase various
volunteer opportunities
around the county. We
will be inviting our 60+
stations to represent
their organization, as
well as other nonprofits in the county
who do not have a
relationship with
RSVP. This will give
organizations an outlet
for advertising their
needs. If you know
someone looking for a
place to volunteer, or
are curious as to what
else is out there in
addition to what you
already do, come by
the Central Ridge
Community Center, 77
Civic Circle, Beverly
Hills, from Noon—2 pm.

The Senior Companion Program welcomes Kathy
Hayes as our newest Companion. Kathy has
undergone training and has been assigned her
first couple of clients. Welcome Kathy!
The 2017 Client Surveys have been mailed out. Clients are being asked their
opinion about the service they receive, their perceived social ties, their ability to
take care of necessary errands and appointments, and their overall satisfaction
with the Senior Companion volunteer. We’ll report our findings in the next edition of
the newsletter.
