Repeat with a second FeederMat, slotting it through the other large hole in the pot. • Insert the FeederMats through the corresponding holes in the Feeder Tray and sit the pot in position. • Repeat this with all pots. • Insert the rubber plug into your Feeder Tray. This is for topping up your SmartReservoir. • Fill the pots with compost whilst taking care to keep the FeederMat upright. • Firm the compost down around the FeederMat. Growing from Seed •Use a dibber to create rows and sow your seeds. • Gently cover your seeds with a fine layer of compost using a compost sieve. •Firm and level your compost using a tamper to ensure even germination and removal of air pockets. • W ater the compost well using a watering can with a rose until the compost is moist but not saturated. Transplanting Plants •Make a hole in the compost large enough for your plant. •Add your plant. Firm the compost down gently around the plant to settle the compost. •Water the compost well using a watering can with a rose until the compost is moist but not saturated. Growing Potatoes • Add compost to the pots to a depth of 5cm–10cm (2–4 inches), whilst taking care to keep the FeederMat upright. • Place your tubers/seed potatoes in the corners of the pots rose end up (the end where the buds or sprouts can be seen). Use 2 to 4 seed potatoes per pot. • Cover the tubers/seed potatoes and any shoots with approx. 2.5cm (1 inch) of compost. • Water the compost well using a watering can with a rose until the compost is moist but not saturated. • When the shoots are 15cm (6 inch) above the compost, cover with another 10cm (4 inch) of compost to prevent light from reaching the tubers and them turning green. Leave enough uncovered to allow some leaves to absorb sunlight. Repeat this process until the foliage is over the top of the pots. • Once flowers have died, remove the top foliage. • O n late cropping varieties, as the weather turns colder (October), protect plants at night on colder days with fleece. Plants should be left uncovered on milder days. Feeding & Watering Your Plants IMPORTANT: •Add water to your nutrient bottles as indicated on the bottles. •Once the top of the compost is dry to the touch (a few days to a week) fill your SmartReservoir with water and nutrients using the dosage rates below. •DO NOT mix the nutrients together. It is important to add water to the watering can and then add the ‘A’ nutrients to the water followed by the ‘B’ nutrients using the dosage rates below. Compost information Use a standard multi-purpose compost, not a water-retaining/moisture-control or heavily fertilised one. Most compost contains nutrients. Check your compost bag to identify how many weeks feed the compost contains and add nutrients as described below from one week before the compost is due to run out of feed. If your compost does not contain nutrients, start adding the nutrients from week one. Dosage rates Add 6ml of nutrient ‘A’ and 6ml of nutrient ‘B’ to every 1 litre of water. Top-up the SmartReservoir as necessary. For best results keep the SmartReservoir fully topped-up. The Quadgrow VEG planter holds 30 Litres. During warm weather dampen your compost from the top when you top-up your SmartReservoir Any Questions?
