T
he Indian parliamentary elections
are over and a new government
has come to power. The Bharatiya
Janata Party (BJP) has won a decisive
majority. The new Prime Minister, Narendra
Modi, is known for his rapid decision making and promoting investor friendly policies. Indian and international trade associations, institutions and companies feel
that this development could result in some
promising possibilities for the construction equipment (CE) sector.
One of the common thrust areas of
subsequent governments in India has been
the manufacturing sector. Irrespective of
whichever coalition had been at the helm
of affairs, there has been a consistent
focus on increasing the contribution of the
manufacturing sector towards the coun-
try's GDP. It is no different in the case of
the present government led by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. One of the key aims
of the new government is towards further
developing the manufacturing sector.
While the last few years may have seen a
lull in the sector, there is no denying the
fact that the manufacturing sector in the
country has grown by leaps and bounds.
The setting up of various Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and dedicated industrial corridors has been behind this rise in
the fortunes of the manufacturing sector.
There has also been a dramatic increase
in the number of micro, small and medium
enterprises across the country. This has
resulted in rapid industrialization over the
last two decades.
The industrialization process is not
expected to slow down anytime in the
near future. Every government knows
that the process is crucial for generating
large scale employment and for the overall development of the economy. This
being the case, it won't come as a surprise
if several new industrial corridors and
parks are announced in the aftermath of
the new government taking oath in New
Delhi. This being the case, a large market
has emerged specifically for industrial
vacuum cleaners. While this could be still
considered a niche market segment, there
is no denying its growth potential, given
the rapid rate industrialization.
With India emerging as a key global
market for various kinds of equipment, it
does not come as a surprise that it is now
one of the most watched for industrial vac-

awareness levels increasing , the growth
rate of industrial vacuum cleaning equipment is expected to pick up pace over the
next couple of years.

The Indian market for industrial vacuum cleaners is gradually beginning to
gain some momentum. Growing awareness levels about the latest trends in vacuum cleaning technology has meant that
today irrespective of the size of industrial
units, one can find the latest models being
used in India's factory shop floors. One of
the key players in this line has been Roots
Multiclean, with its wide range of industrial vacuum cleaning equipment. The
company represents the globally well
known Delfin range of industrial vacuum
cleaning equipment from Italy. The heavy
duty machines in the range include the
Delfin DG100, Delfin DG150 and Delfin DG
300 models. Very silent, these models
require minimal maintenance and designed to work round the clock, providing
outstanding suction performances. The
Delfin DG 30/70 are slightly smaller machines. These powerful, silent machines
are ideally suited for continuous and
heavy work load. They are designed to
draw in dust, liquids and solids at the
same time. Then there is the Mistral 202
DS ECO version, designed for high mobility and to easily reach even the narrowest
of working spaces. The model is ideally

While the basic technology behind the
industrial and commercial vacuum
cleaners remains more or less the same,
there are different types of machines that
are doing the rounds of the markets these
days. One of the most popular types are
the cleaners that are adept at dealing with
both dry dust , as well as liquid spillages,
that are so common on many an industrial premises. Then you have the ones
that are used only for collecting dry, toxic
dust from the industrial floors. Many models are also designed for better mobility
within confined industrial spaces. A good
example comes in the form of the upright
vacuum cleaners that are widely used in
industrial as well as commercial establishments. These days there are also portable models available that be mounted
on the back too. Known as the 'backpack
vacuum cleaner” they are commonly used
in places such as aircraft hangars, shopping malls and multiplexes. The most
common type that is used in industrial
environs, are the heavy duty, continuous
duty vacuum cleaners, which can work for
long hours at a stretch.

Exciting Future
With the country embarking on a rapid
phase of industrialization, a potentially huge
market for specialized cleaning equipment
for the sector has emerged. The seeds for
a growing market have already been
sown. Top names in the field have also
taken note of the immense growth possibilities of the Indian market. A few of them
have already entered the fray, while several of them are expected to follow suit
sooner than later. One of the key differentiating factors for any manufacturer or supplier to win the race for garnering maximum market share is going to be providing aftermarket services. The typical Indian
customer today is demanding value added
services. Price alone, therefore, is not the
clinching factor. Suppliers on their part
have also realized this key factor. Global
names in the field have realized that the
best way to do business in such an environment is to be close to the market, either
by setting shop on their own or through strategic business tie-ups. Several big name
players are expected to enter the lucrative
Indian market in the near future. The industrial vacuum cleaning equipment market is all set for an exciting growth phase
in India.w
