This series of days will commence on Wednesday 14th June with ‘Healthy Relationships Day’, a PSHEE workshop focusing on different kinds of relationships, including relationships with family, teachers and friends as well as sexual relationships. It will be led by renowned Theatre-in-Education company Tip of the Iceberg and will follow on from discussion about this topic led by Form Tutors earlier in the term. On the morning of Thursday 15th June, the students will then undertake the Morrisby profiling test, a form of aptitude testing which will provide students with an individually tailored report. Mr Brien, Head of Careers, will send a letter containing more details about this in due course. That afternoon, they will have Games as normal. Friday 16th June will see the students participate in an Academic Enrichment Day. For all those studying GCSE Geography or PE, they will be given an option to attend a visit to the Olympic Park. Mr Johnston, Head of Geography, will be sending a separate letter to all Geography and PE students with further information. For those remaining in School, the day will begin with a talk on Resilience, one of our School Values, by Mr David Clarke, captain of the British Football five-a-side team for the London 2012 Paralympics. The boys will then attend timetabled lessons where they will delve beyond the syllabus in their various subjects and have a chance to really extend their learning. In the afternoon, they will either continue with lessons, or they can opt to take part in a STEM Architecture workshop. Further details will follow from Mrs Robertson. Finally, on Monday 19th June, all Fourth Form students will venture to Edge Outdoor Activities in Ware, for their Activities Day. The students will compete in their forms to win the coveted Inter-Form Activities Award by taking part in a series of activities, such as high ropes, zip wire, archery, mountain boarding, and shooting. The boys will be given some options and will be asked to select their preferences before the event. We will be travelling to and from the venue by coach, leaving at 8.45am and returning in time for the 4.00pm buses. For this event, they will need to wear comfortable outdoor clothes, with sturdy footwear and a waterproof jacket in case of inclement weather. They will also need to bring a packed lunch and a small amount of money for drinks and snacks. The cost of the trip is £20 per person. Please note, those students who normally pay for School lunches will be refunded the cost of one meal on their end of term bill. www.st-albans.herts.sch.uk St Albans School is a company limited by guarantee Registered in England № 4400125 Charity № 1092932 Registered Office: Abbey Gateway, St Albans, Hertfordshire AL3 4HB For all days other than Monday 19th June, students should wear School Uniform.
