two, p r i n c i p a l speakers. He spent a year i n Europe as a Liason Officer for t h e
Army and OTRRA. i n the course of h i s remarks,, he praised J.D.C* h i g h l y for i t s »
work in Europe and said t h a t J.D.C. i s no doubt, the b e s t p r i v a t e agency in the
field*,

He madia another comment whioh v/as not/so f a v o r a b l e . He said t h a t t h e r e were five
hundred children waiting for removal/and t h a t U2JRRA would have assumed f u l l r e s p o n s i b i l i t y for these o h i l d r e n , but t h a t J.D.C. i n s i s t e d on taking over, and
further i n s i s t e d on g e t t i n g them i n t o Prance, and he assumed t h a t t h i s .was done
in order : t o give J.D.C. a " p r o j e c t " . He discussed t h i s a t length with Joe Schwartz
and Arthur Oreenleigh, but they were adamant in wanting the children brought i n t o
France under J.D.C.
My answer t o t h i s and Mr, I r v i n Bettman supported i t , "J.D.C. d o e s n ' t need any
s y n t h e t i c projects*- J.D.C. was i n t e r e s t e d only i n saving these children and no.
doubt iin the opinion of Dr. Schwartz-'.and Arthur Greehleigh, t h i s oould b e s t be
done by g e t t i n g the children i n t o F r a n o e . ' '
