Rhetorical Analysis essay preparation
Directions: At the conclusion of our unit study on the novel, you will write an in-class essay
(this will take place on 10/26 or 10/27). To prepare for the essay, complete the following study
guide that focuses on diction, syntax, and figurative language/rhetorical devices. With each
example, think about how it contributes to the author’s tone, the mood/imagery that is created
for the reader, and the theme or overall message of the novel.
