COMMERCIAL MB

COMMERCIAL MB
RL20G
Product:
• Commercial MB Moisture Barrier is a grey, two - part, water based,
epoxy sealer.
• It has excellent adhesion to most common substrates including
concrete, masonary, fibre/cement, and other cementitious surfaces.
Commercial MB is Low VOC, Green Compliant and can be mixed in
equals parts by either weight or volume.
Recommened Applications:
• It can be applied as a sealer for concrete, masonry, bricks, fibre/
cement, and other cementitious surfaces. Other applications include
a water retaining/curing aid (membrane) for concrete suitable for
further finishing with a decorative or industrial coating, a water
impermeable coating for green substrates, substrates that display
negative hydrostatic pressure, dampness or seepage.
Features:
• Water clean up Withstands 250Kpa of hydrostatic head of water
pressure or up to 25 metres head of water Convenient equal part
mixing ratio by volume Approved for use with potable (drinking)
water, conforms to AS4020 (1999) Australian made Nonflammable,
negligible odour and toxicity Prevents rising damp and the
formation of efflorescence Excellent adhesion to brick, masonry,
concrete, blockwork, stone, timber, porous ceramic tiles Can be
over-coated with majority of decorative or industrial coatings such
as epoxy.
Surface Preperation:
• All surfaces to be in accordance with the Relevant Australian
Standards. All surfaces must be be sound, clean, free from
structural cracks, free from standing water, wax, grease, paints,
previously used adhesive, laitance (being the dusty unstable
topping of poorly or insufficiently cured concrete) and any other
impurities or contaminants that may affect adhesion. Efflorescence
or laitance should be removed by a mechanical method or other
suitable means. The minimum subfloor temperature before
commencing installation should be 10°C.
• All fibre cement sheets, compressed fibre cement, plasterboard
structural particle board and plywood must comply with the
relevant building code and be fixed in accordance with the
manufacturer’s instructions.
Mixing:
• Mixing should be by means of a mechanical mixer with a high
shear stirrer. Premix each individual component to form a
homogeneous paste. (Do not contaminate one part with the other).
Combine the two components by equal volume mixing thoroughly
until a homogeneous blended paste is obtained. Avoid trapping
air during mixing; this may cause pin holing in the coating during
application. Only mix as much as can be used in about 30-60
minutes. Allow the mixed composition to stand for approximately 5
minutes before application.
• Two part waterbased
epoxy primer
• Hydrostatic membrane
• Use over green sand
cement screeds
• Helps prevent
efflorescence
from screeds
• Excellent adhesion to
concrete and F/C sheet

Application:
• On porous surfaces, apply a thin prime coat by diluting the product
with 10 to 25% water. As soon as this is dry, apply a normal heavy
coat. Commercial MB can be applied to the substrate by way of
Roller or Brush. It is recommended that the product be applied to
surfaces that that have a temperature between 10-30°C At lower
temperatures the curing rate will slow down considerably. It is
recommended to apply one even coat for green substrates with
moisture levels that are falling and dust sealing. It is recommended
to apply two coats for rising damp, substrates that display
hydrostatic pressure. Coverage for all applications should be 3m2/ litre per coat Apply coats in a cross over application (North,
South and East, West formation) and ensure a minimum dry film
thickness of 150 microns (0.15mm) per coat is achieved.
• Depending on atmospheric conditions allow 4-7 hours between
coats and ensure the surface is dry and walkable before the
application of the second coat. Care and consideration should be
taken to ensure no pin holing occurs and the membrane coating
is not damaged. Application should be completed before expiry of
working life which is indicated by a marked increase in viscosity.
Tilling Applications:
• When tiling on interior green concrete or when using moisture
sealer to reduce efflorescence, over cement screeds, apply one
heavy coat at a spreading rate of 3m2 per litre to obtain a dry film
thickness of 150 microns. When tiling over external concrete or
where there is rising damp or negative hydrostatic pressure, apply
two heavy coats to obtain a dry fil thickness of 300 microns. Allow
to completely dry. It is not necessary to prime over Commercial
MB. Ensure the Commercial MB is dry and clean. Tile using the
appropriate RLA Tile adhesive within 14 days of membrane
application. Do not cast sand into the Commercial MB membrane
to improve tiling adhesion. Commercial MB does not require sand.
Follow the RLA Tile Adhesive instructions on the bag and always tile
in accordance with AS3958.1:2007 – A Guide to Tiling.
Soft Floor Covering Applications:
• Concrete Subfloors that display high RH (Moisture Readings)
readings Commercial MB can be applied as a moisture barrier or
a green slab sealer. All concrete substrate floors should be tested
for moisture content according to the relevant Australian Standards
prior to installation. For Green Substrates with readings <95%RH
by way of In Situ Test Method (ATSM F2170) and with the moisture
content falling it is recommended to apply one even coat of
Commercial MB.
• For substrates with readings >95%RH by way of In Situ Test
Method (ATSM F2170) and where the moisture content is not falling
and hydrostatic pressure or Alkaline is present, it is recommended
to apply two even coats of Commercial MB in a cross over
application (North, South and East, West formation) Coverage for
all applications should be 3m2/ litre per coat Allow product to
dry for approximately 24 hours Allow to cure for 24 hours before
applying Roberts/ RLA levelling compounds, decorative coatings or
other surface materials. Care and consideration should be taken to
ensure membrane coating is not damaged during this time.
Container Size:
• 10lt Part A & 10lt Part B (20lt Kit).
Shelf Life:
• 12 months stored out of direct sunlight.
Coverage:
• 3m2 / litre per coat.
