JOB POSTING: PRODUCTION ASSISTANT Part Time Regular position Starting on or before April 3, 2017 The Arts Club Theatre Company is Western Canada’s largest professional theatre company. Now in its 53rd season, this non-profit charitable organization produces and presents year-round at three venues—the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage, Granville Island Stage, and Goldcorp Stage—as well as on tour throughout the province. We have a fully equipped Production Facility located on Granville Island. The Arts Club Theatre Company is currently accepting applications for a Production Assistant. This position is full time under an IATSE 118 agreement and will work under the supervision of the Production Secretary and the Technical Director team. Hours of employment will be generally Monday to Friday from 8:30am – 5:00pm. Occasional weekend, early morning and evening hours may be required. The successful candidate will be familiar with the different aspects of a professional theatre company, and will have some technical theatre knowledge. This is a new position and we are looking to have the selected candidate start on April 3, 2017. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to; Pick up and deliver daily show laundry, equipment and supplies for each of the production departments Drive the various company vehicles, including rental vehicles Purchase production materials Assist in the prop, scenery, paint & costume departments, as well as with stage crews and overall maintenance, as needed Assist with rehearsal hall setup and strike Pick up and deliver items for other departments, as needed Mandatory requirement; Valid class 4 BC Driver’s License, able to drive a 5 ton truck Clean Drivers Abstract Be Bondable Valid passport with ability to enter into the United States of America Preference may be given to persons with knowledge of Metro Vancouver and parts of the lower mainland and those holding additional certificates for one, or all of the following; WHMIS, 1st Aid, Pyrotechnic, possession of a current PAL license. This is a very physical job with lots of heavy lifting and the ability to climb stairs. The Production Assistant will have excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Must be flexible in outlook and approach to the position and be diplomatic in dealing with all staff, volunteers and suppliers.
