Friday September 4
Make sure you speak to all your
teachers and they know to
expect your partner in class on
various days in the three
coming weeks.
Bus pick up at airport, teachers
from LTCHS will meet the Spanish group in Calgary and bring them back to the
school. Please keep you cell phones handy and we will text you once we are leaving
the airport. Please meet us at the school in International Hall, (likely around 11pm).
One of our supervisors will be there to wait with you.
A few thoughts:
When first meeting your partner, shake hands, smile and talk calmly and
slowly. Your partner is likely tired and nervous. Introduce the people who
are with you and how they are related (mom, aunt, friend...).
A very short welcome to the whole group will be made and you will be off
home. Offer to carry their bags and load them into your vehicle.
Once you have arrived at home, take your partners bags to where they will
be sleeping and give them a tour of your home. Invite them to use what
toiletries your family is sharing with them, show them where their towels
are. Let them know if they are to help themselves to food in the fridge, or
pantry or if they should ask you first. Let them know your plans for
tomorrow (what time they should get up, should they shower before leaving,
what they may need to wear...) and let them head to bed.
