Ms. Turner explained parents had heard teachers referring to the Special Education Community and it moving to Tierra Bonita. She felt calling it a Special Education Community was not fair; it was worse than being bullied. Ms. Turner said the SDC students needed a little extra time for eating breakfast in the cafeteria. She had seen students’ trays taken away from them because it was 8:00 a.m. and the students needed to be in class. Mrs. Johnson asked the parents to set up an appointment with Dr. Marshall and Margo Deal to discuss their concerns further. Ms. Thompson asked Ms. Turner for clarification as to whether she was concerned that the students were being moved or was it the jargon used to describe the Special Education Community. Ms. Turner said it was the jargon. They are building a new school and the students will be going to an older school. Ms. Roma De Sharp expressed her concern with the number of students in Mrs. Helble’s class. 2 MINUTES - CONTINUED EASTSIDE UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES REGULAR MEETING – FEBRUARY 24, 2014 There were 16 students assigned to the same group with one teacher and two assistants.
