Registration is on a first come, first served basis. When registering use the age as of June
20, 2016. Registration will NOT be accepted over the phone, through mail or email. Payment must be made upon registration. *Checks made payable to: City of Marysville.
Returned Checks: A check returned for insufficient funds will result in a $50.00 fee being
assessed on your account. Participation in current and future programs will be suspended
until fee is paid.
Refunds: Refunds can be authorized only BEFORE the second program meeting unless it
is a special event or one-night program.
Cancellations: All registrations will be fully refunded should an entire program be cancelled
by the recreation department.
The Marysville Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient registration or conditions beyond its control.

A great place to host family reunions, graduations, birthday parties, receptions, bridal and baby showers.
Seating for 100 people with a refrigerator available. Alcohol is allowed. Rock wall is available to ages
10 and under.

Enjoy a night in beautiful Marysville City Park dancing the night away. 50/50 raffle also held!
Concerts are held at the Marysville City Park Band Shell on Wednesday evenings at 7:00PM. In the case of
inclement weather, the concerts will be moved to the Marysville High School Auditorium. Free admission
and open to the public.
Marysville Farmer’s Market
Enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers, along with beautiful flowers and plants to
brighten up your home. All vendors are seasonal.

Youth Camps and Activities
Teen Volunteer Program
The Marysville Recreation Department is one of the best in the area and that is due to the amount of
teen volunteers we get every summer! This gives teens an opportunity to get work experience while
developing good work habits and giving back to their community. We will need volunteers to help with
sports programs, aquatics, playground program and special events. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt
and great work experience. Applications are available at the Recreation Department or online.
Volunteers MUST attend orientation!

Viking Hoops Camp June 19-22
The annual Viking Hoops Camp will teach young athletes the basic fundamentals of the game, while
developing a healthy work ethic and positive attitude. This camp will take place at the Marysville High
School Gymnasium.

Lego Camp
Students build, race, modify and KEEP up to 10 different, cool pullback motorized toy building brick
cars! Each car comes with a design pamphlet, and students become junior engineers as they design
new vehicles using their kits. Hands-on learning activities and experiments demonstrate science and
engineering concepts such as simple machines, friction, tension, resistance, potential and kinetic energy. These popular BanBao pullback car kits are designed with bricks that are 100% compatible with
major brands like Legos. **Students TAKE HOME EVERYTHING they build!**

1ST ANNUAL FISHING CLINIC presented by the Marysville DPW and Marysville Lions
Does your son or daughter want to learn how to fish? This clinic will teach them the proper way to do so
with stations covering: safety, knot tying, tackle, casting, and how to be a good angler. Join us for a fun
Saturday morning on the St. Clair River! Ages 5-15. First 70 registrations receive a FREE fishing
pole!

Nerf Wars:
Kids will get a chance to battle it out using their Nerf products! The day will be run as a tournament
style competition with 5 player teams. Let your kids get competitive and have fun this summer with Nerf
Wars! Players will bring their own Nerf products to this one-day competition.

Fridays are the NEW field trip days! These special trips are for ages 7-14, and chaperoned by our supervisors and staff. Price for each trip: $30.00-Resident $40.00-Non-Resident

Playground Program at the City Park
The Marysville Recreation Department invites your child, ages 6-12, to participate in our playground
program at the City Park. This program includes board games, arts and crafts, imaginative games,
playground games, individual and team sports, fitness, education, splash pad, adventures and more!
Children are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. Every day will start at the Community Center!

Tot-Lot Program
Recreation staff will lead children through fun organized activities like games, crafts, stories and
more. This program is for ages 3-5. All staff is

Tent City
Boys and girls (ages 7-13) join us again this summer for our 11th Annual Tent City! Campers will
be setting up their tents in Marysville City Park.
We will be spending the evening playing fun
games like capture the flag, kickball, dodgeball,
group games, football, and doing our famous midnight scavenger hunt and splash pad adventure!

Aquatics
Swim Lessons: $25Resident $35Non-Resident
The lessons will be offered in 3-week and 6-week sessions. Classes are limited to 15 kids per class with
two instructors. All classes will be held at the Marysville High School Pool. Below are the levels listed,
so please read carefully to make sure you place your child in the right swim class.
Level 1 Water Exploration: This level is to help students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the
water safely. Swimmers will learn how to submerge their heads, basic breath control and supported
floating on front/back.
Level 2 Primary Skills: Gives swimmers success with fundamental skills and learn to float without support. Learn the basic self-help skills.
Level 3 Stroke Readiness: Swimmers learn the fundamentals of front/back crawl, treading water and
are introduced to the back stroke.
Level 4 Stroke Development: Swimmers develop confidence in strokes learned thus far and work to
improve other aquatic skills. An introduction to the breaststroke, sidestroke and wall turns is provided.
Level 5 Stroke Refinement: Swimmers work on coordination and refinement of key strokes. Introduce
the butterfly, open turns, feet-first surface dives. Swimmers increase swim distances.
Level 6 Skill Proficiency: Swimmers polish strokes so they swim with more ease, efficiency, power
and smoothness over greater distances.

This is an introduction to swimming for ages 6 months to 4 years. One adult, age 16 or older must be
present in the pool with each child. All classes are a 6 week program (June 26– August 3).

Swim Team
The swim team is for boys and girls ages 6-18 years old living in the Marysville School District. All practices are Monday through Thursday with swim meets being held on Fridays for all age groups. Swimmers MUST attend at least 2 practices a week to be able to participate in the swim meets. All participants must be able to swim one length of the pool in any stroke and will be tested on the first day. The
swim team is limited to 100 kids, swim meets 50.

Special Needs Swim Lessons
These are 20-minute swim lessons that will get the special needs children in the pool playing games
and learning how to swim. They will be one on one with an instructor. Participants must be toilet trained.
Call the Recreation Department to set up the time and instructor. Fee: $20 for 6 weeks
Private Swim Lessons
Call the Recreation Department to set up a private lesson with an instructor. Cost: $15/ half hour.
Senior Water Aerobics
Seniors can enjoy the benefit s of warm, therapeutic water set between 82-86 degrees. The pool is
handicap accessible, including the ramp entrance/exit. This is a group exercise program without a
lead instructor. The program is for ages 50 and older.

NEW! Crafty Kids
Every week children ages 2-6 will read a new children’s book and then make a related craft!
This class is great for encouraging your child’s creative side while also teaching them to love
reading! Older children ages 7-12 will get a chance to make a variety of fun crafts that harness
their creativity and individuality!

Fundamentals of Theatre Acting
Children and teens will be introduced to acting
through drills, skill work, and group activities. Not
only will your child learn the skills necessary to
stand out when acting, they will also learn some
technical terms to aid them in their exploration of
theatre!

Adult Programs
Yoga in the Park
Join local Happy Dog Yoga Studio owner/instructor, Cecilia Warchol, for an hour of Zen in the midst of
our beautiful Marysville Park! This Yoga class is for ALL LEVELS. We’ll focus on a slow flow of postures to awaken the body, as well as concentrate on our breath to calm the mind, all while enjoying
the fresh summer air. Limited amounts of mats will be provided, please bring your own if you have
one. If rain is in the forecast, class will meet in the Community Center.
Drop in price is $8 per class OR buy all 8 weeks for $50!

Rockin’ Retirees with Deborah Forster
A class for everyone, whether you’ve been exercising or simply want to age in a healthy way. This
class will provide cardio, resistance, flexibility, core, and balance training. Every class is self-paced;
chairs are provided for those who need them. Join certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor Deborah Forster, for a fun and energetic hour!

Pickleball
It’s a little tennis, a bit of ping-pong, and a splash of badminton! Come play pickleball whenever you
choose! Open all day, every day!

NEW! Wiffleball League
Join our first ever Adult Wiffleball League! This league will be an “Open” Division of a maximum of 8
teams. There is no limit or minimum of how many men or women are on a team or on the field at a
time. League Play will last 5 weeks, with the top 4 teams playing in the playoffs on the following week.

Golf
Golf Lessons
Learn the etiquette of golf, along with rules and basic skills. Golfers will work on grip, stances, swings,
putting, short game, and driving. This is a beginner’s course. Limit to 20 kids per class.

Junior Golf League
Golfers must have some basic playing skills and ability to advance the ball with regularity. This is for the
more advanced golfers who are ready to take their golf game to the next level. All golfers must wear a
