Reminders Report cards for second quarter were distributed last Friday, February 5. If you have not done so, please sign and return one copy of the report card and the envelope to school. Thank you! Our class will be exchanging Valentine cards this Friday, February 12. A class list was sent home with your child last week. Lesson 1: “Properties” (Pages E42-E46) MAIN IDEA: Physical and chemical properties are characteristics used to describe, identify, and classify matter. We will be taking a QUIZ on the properties of matter this Thursday, February 11. Students should understand the following concepts: • Properties can be used to identify pure substances. • Physical properties include state, size, and color. • A chemical property is the ability of a material to react, burn, or change to form a new material. In addition, students should be able to define the following vocabulary terms: VOCABULARY: boiling point, chemical property, conductivity, density, mass, matter, melting point, physical property, solubility, volume Thumbs-Up At Conte School, students earn thumbs-up for following the expectations: BE SAFE BE RESPECTFUL BE RESPONSIBLE BE THERE, BE READY This week, students can earn heart thumbsup tickets.
