How to create a picture frame in 3d studio max First open a new document, select “shapes > splines > line” from the create menu, the initial type is set to “corner” and “drag type” to bezier. Go to the top view. Click holing down shift to drag a line straight Recreate a spline as in the image and when max prompt “close spine?” click yes. Select the spline and hit 1 on your keyboard (on top not the on num pad) to select the vertex as sub-object mode Right click with the mouse over every single vertex with the arrow and select “smooth”. The adjust them a little by moving them as shown in picture. Then, let’s create the basic shape. Go again in the spline panel and select line. Draw a line holding down shift to draw 90° angles. Draw a rectangle, when prompt to close spline click yes. Now select the first shape we draw, go to “Create > compound object > loft” then click “get path” and finally click on the rectangle. Then right click on the loft object and select “convert to > editable mesh”. And the picture frame is done. Variation on theme.. ;)
