The facilities, especially the restrooms and playgrounds are clean and still look new. The grounds suffer from vandals from time to time, but are maintained meticulously by the school and district staff. W.E. Mitchell Middle School (Folsom Cordova Unified School District) 2013-2014 Textbook Insufficiency Report The Sacramento County Office of Education Williams reviewers determined the following insufficiencies during their inspection of the school: Rooms 24, 26, and 27 1 Insufficient number of instructional materials as evidenced by the following deficiencies: Subject Area 7th Grade Spanish Title Aventura 1a, EMC Publishing, 2013 Students Without 236 Subject Area 8th Grade Spanish Title Aventura 1b, EMC Publishing, 2013 Students Without 250 We understand that 236 each Aventura 1a and 250 each Aventura 1b, Student Editions are on order. The Education Code provides school districts the opportunity to remedy deficiencies found during the Williams review. The county superintendent is responsible to ensure that any deficiency is remedied within the first eight weeks of the school term.2 If, it is not remedied, the county superintendent is required to request that the California Department of Education purchase the needed textbooks or instructional materials for the school with the purchase treated as a loan to the district. 1 Education Code section 1240(i) requires the county superintendent of schools to enforce the use of state textbooks regularly adopted by the proper authority and defines sufficient textbooks as each pupil, including English learners, has a textbook or instructional materials, or both, to use in class and to take home. 2 Education Code section 1240(i)(4)(C) requires remediation of a deficiency no later than the second month of the school term.
