Crab Grabbers
Designed for children ages 4‐5 years old, Crab Grabbers addresses
founda on skills needed for good penmanship. The focus will be hand and
fine motor development, shape and direc onal line concepts, and basic
strokes that are the building blocks for wri ng in kindergarten as well as the
early primary grades. This group of children are o en currently prac cing with
single le ers or basic words. All children this age would enjoy the fun
mul sensory approach to ac vi es. Par cipants should be able to communicate,
follow direc ons in a small group se ng, and need to be able to work both independently as well as with
others. A Fine Motor Take Home Kit is provided on the last day allowing families to easily prac ce similar
hand development ac vi es, long a er the
camp is finished.

Print Wizards is intended for children in the early primary grades who need
help fine‐tuning their penmanship skills using manuscript. Children in this
group are o en currently prac cing with wri ng at a phrase, sentence, or
small paragraph level. A complete review of le er sequences within wri ng
lines will remediate common difficul es such as spacing and legibility errors,
poor le er forma on, and le er reversals. Small motor development
ac vi es will promote successful pencil grasp and mo on when wri ng. We
will use a mul sensory approach to make handwri ng FUN! Par cipants
should be able to communicate, follow direc ons in a small group se ng,
and need to be able to work both independently as well as with others.
Upon admission to the group, parents will be asked to complete a short
ques onnaire plus guide their child through a handwri ng sample at home
to help iden fy areas of concern.
