LET’s MAKE
3 -D Snowflake
Decor
Created by Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores®
Supplies & Tools:
•3 sheets of poster board
•Ruler
•Tape
•Stapler
•Scissors
•Pencil
Directions:
Note: Before starting, carefully read through all directions. Use the diagrams & photo as reference guides.
1. Cut the three pieces of poster board into six 14" squares. Note: Cut two squares per sheet.
2. Fold one 14" square on the diagonal to create a triangular piece.
3. Starting at the top point of triangle, opposite the fold, measure down and mark five 1" increments on each side. See
Figure A.
4. Continue the marked-off increment lines down to the fold. See Figure A.
5. Draw a vertical line from the center point down to the fold. Then draw two more lines, each one 1/4" from the center
line on the left and right. Note: The lines on either side will be your stopping point when cutting through the diagonal
lines. See Figure B.
6. Cut along each diagonal line until you hit the vertical line. Stop when you hit the line. If you keep cutting, you will
jeopardize the finished snowflake design. See Figure C.
7. Once all the diagonal lines are cut, unfold the triangle. You now have a square with equal cut lines on both sides.
Erase any pencil marks and lay flat.
8. Starting at the center, bring the two points of the center flaps together and tape in place. See Figure D.
9. Flip the square over, take the next two points, bring them together and tape them in place. Repeat this until all the
corners are taped together, making sure to flip the rectangle and do every other side.
10. Repeat steps 2 to 9 until all six squares of poster board are complete.
11. To attach the snowflake pieces together, lay three pieces together and gather them at the top; staple in place.
Staple where the two pieces meet in the middle of each piece to secure together.
12. Once all three pieces are secured and stapled, repeat with the remaining three pieces of poster board.
13. Attach the snowflake halves together with a staple in the center to connect both tabs. Staple all the middle pieces
together similar to process in step 11.
