Wellness Program – Physical Training Course Description:
It is our desire to motivate cadets to take an active role in promoting healthy lifestyles for themselves and other
cadets around them. This course will consist of a solid regiment of exercises, running and team sport activities. We
also see this program as key in developing leadership skills among our corps of cadets. The Wellness/Physical
Training Program encourages the setting of goals and encourages cadets to always strive for improvement. We
believe the choices our cadets make, when it comes to their own fitness, is something they can take with them into
their own adult life.
During this program, cadets will take part in the following fitness tests:
Texas Fitness Test (Fall Semester)
Presidential Fitness Test (once in the Fall Semester and once in the Spring Semester)
Air Force Fitness Test (Spring Semester).
The Wellness/Physical Training Program will be conducted each Friday during all TX-951 JROTC classes. Each
cadet will be expected to come prepared to class with proper physical training clothing (issued PT shirt and PT
shorts along with white socks and tennis shoes). Failure to comply with our physical training clothing requirements
will result in a 50% for the day as long as the cadet participates in the scheduled activity. Otherwise the grade will
be a 0%.
NOTE: During this Wellness/Physical Training Program, cadets will have the opportunity to earn an AFJROTC
Physical Training Ribbon and special TX-951 Physical Training Medal.
Course Objectives:
1. Know the importance of leading active and healthy lifestyles.
2. Know how to create a physical fitness program that will help meet the needs of each cadet.

Class Behavior, Appearance, Attendance, Preparation and Participation:
Cadets will also be expected to act in accordance with their Cadet Guide. Inappropriate behavior in or out of
uniform is prohibited while participating in AFJROTC.
Cadets are expected to be to class on time. That means in their assigned seat prior to the tardy bell. Otherwise, the
cadet is counted tardy. Cadets must also demonstrate proper school dress code and have in their possession their
TX-951 Cadet Guide. NOTE: “No-Notice” Cadet Guide Inspections will be taken throughout the school year for a
daily grade. Cadets will also appropriately wear the uniform on all designated uniform days (the entire school
day…no exceptions unless coordinated with the SASI or ASIs). Cadets must also be familiar with the SASI’s “3
Strike Uniform Wear Policy. Cadets can refer to the Cadet Guide for details regarding this policy.
Cadets are also expected to give their “best effort” when it comes to all classwork, exams and team building
exercises. In addition, each flight will be expected to follow all prescribed classroom procedures as stated in the
TX-951 Cadet Guide. Finally, all cadets are expected to follow the proper chain of command when addressing an
issue as, once again, stated in the TX-951 Cadet Guide.
Exams/Homework/Classwork:
Two types of exams will be administered throughout this course: Regular Chapter/Lesson Exams and the Semester
Final Exam. The majority of all assignments will be conducted during class. However, there may be times when
cadets will be expected to complete assignments outside of JROTC class time. All Homework/Classwork must be
turned in on time in order to be considered for maximum credit.
Community Service:
Cadets are expected to take part in one Community Service Project per Nine Weeks (counts as a Major Grade).
Community Service Points will also be awarded to cadets as they participate in these projects. These points will be
tracked and maintained by our TX-951 Office personnel on a continuing basis. Cadets are expected to sign-up for a
specific Community Service when offered and not wait until the last minute as there are usually only limited slots.
However, it should also be noted that there tend to be amble Community Service Opportunities provided to cadets
during each Nine Week period.
NOTE: Cadets can earn a Community Service Ribbon by participation in the Community Service Program as well
as contributing to the possible awarding of a “Letter” and/or Letter Jacket (see the Cadet Guide for details).
Questions regarding the Community Service Program should be directed to TX-951 Office Personnel.
