Thank you for participating in the Adopt-a-Family Program
for our Holiday Dine Around. In the spirit of this year’s
theme “Hooray for Hollywood”
, we have chosen to honor
the classic film It’s a Wonderful Life.
The story celebrates the generosity of our neighbors,
the appreciation of what we have, and what a difference
we make in the lives of others. In that spirit,
YPO Santa Monica Bay has adopted four very deserving
families through the LA Department of Social Services (DPSS).
Although this program revolves around the Dine Around,
members not attending are still encouraged to participate.

Armstrong

#1Tiffani, 33 years old, is struggling to keep her household together. She has
4 children named Dominique, Kira, Trinity and Damien. Tiffani recently
separated from her husband after 13 years of marriage. The family still sees
the father and they all attend chapel weekly. Tiffani recently lost her mother,
which was an extreme hardship on the family.
The family has almost nothing. They don’t have a table for eating meals,
nor do they have dishes or silverware. Three of the children sleep in one
room and the mother and the baby sleep in an old, dirty pullout couch in
the living room. They have no beds, only mattresses. Food, toiletries and
clothing are their biggest needs.
Tiffani is working hard at a part time job and is attending school. She can just
barely pay the rent but is trying to provide the best home for her children.
Baker
#2Tenille Baker, 33 years old, is a single mother of seven. She is currently
studying to complete her GED so that she can get a better job.
Her children, ranging from 7 to 14-years-old, are named Courtney,
Joequesha, Joenille, Michelle, Janet, Janice and Rodzay. They live in the
Los Angles projects and attend church every Sunday in Echo Park. She has a
job doing inventory with a random work schedule. The children’s father
is not involved in their lives.
She faces the daily challenge of keeping her kids away from the bad
elements of their neighborhood. She is also attending Maxine Waters Adult
School to become a certified caregiver for children and the elderly.
Her wish is to become a role model for her children, so they can
become successful.
B. Lopez
#3Brenda Lopez is a cheerful but very humble mother. She and Jaime Felix
are struggling to raise their six children; Jamie, Arianna, Alejandro, Brenda,
Ashley and Daniel. Their wants and needs are simple: some basic food and
clothing will bring them some pride and respect for their family.
Their children bring tremendous happiness to them, as they try to guide
them through the difficulties of living on the economic edge in Los Angeles.
R. Lopez
#4Rosalva Lopez, originally from Oaxaca Mexico, is focused on getting a job
to support her family. Rosalva is a single mother with five children, ranging
from 2 to 13, named Jesse, Jason, Michelle, Jennifer, and Rosa.
She and her family live in San Pedro, and attend Catholic Church every
Sunday, at the Plastio de Ontania. All she wants for this holiday season is to
get clothing and food for her children

1. HAVE ALREADY PLEDGED TO PURCHASE GIFT(S):
If you have already pledged, please purchase the gift(s), wrap them, and tag them with the
full name of the intended recipient AND the family ID number (#’s 1, 2, 3 or 4).
2. NEED TO PLEDGE:
If you have not pledged yet, please review the family needs and let us know how you can help.
We need to know the family or families you would like to support, the name(s) of the recipient(s)
and what you have pledged to purchase. Please email this information to

3. GIFT DELIVERY:
Either bring the wrapped and tagged gift to the dinner on
Wednesday, December 9th

Instructions for Dine Around Hosts:
1. Collect the gifts from your guests.
2.Send us an email ([email protected]) letting us know when you would like us to
pick up the gifts from your home, on either Thursday Dec. 10 or Friday Dec. 11.
Instructions for Delivery Captains (WE NEED MORE CAPTAINS!):
1. SIGN UP TO DELIVER GIFTS:
Please contact us if you would like to deliver gifts to one of the families, [email protected].
Families that hosted the dinner get the first chance to participate, if they are interested.
2. DELIVERY DATES:
Gifts may be delivered between 12/13 – 12/20/09.
3. GIFT PICK UP LOCATION:
After the Dine Around, all donations will be picked up from the host homes and delivered
to a central location for sorting.
The gifts will be organized at Ignited (Eric Johnson’s office).
