Simple Harvest
crafts for toddlers
Harvest basket
You will need:
Paper plates
Brown paint
Paper fruit and veg shapes
Strips of brown card
How to make a Harvest basket:
Paint the plates brown and leave them to dry (it’s
less messy to do this yourself before the children
arrive). Cut fruit and veg shapes from coloured
paper for the children to glue on or use pictures
from magazines or the internet. Bend the sides of the plate up to form a basket shape and
staple on a strip of brown card for a handle. You could write ‘All good things come from God’
along the handle if you wish.
Harvest fruit
You will need:
Different coloured icing, marzipan or playdough
e.g. yellow, red, green, blue and brown.
A brown food colouring pen to mark details e.g.
pips on a strawberry or the ends of a banana or
the top of an orange or blueberry
How to make Harvest fruit:
Have a selection of real fruit on display for the
children to copy. You can show them how to
make purple for the grapes by mixing the blue
and red, or how to make orange by mixing the
red and yellow. If you are using icing or marzipan to make edible fruits, do remember to CHECK
FOR ALLERGIES before you start and provide handwashing facilities too.

Harvest collage
You will need:
Thin card
Dried seeds, pulses or other
foodstuffs e.g. red or brown
lentils, cous cous, brown and
white rice, popcorn, sunflower
seeds, rolled oats
PVA glue and spreaders. Top tip –
gluesticks are not really strong enough
for this activity.
How to make a Harvest collage:
Small children can stick the seeds and pulses onto a plain sheet of card to make a collage
whilst older children may prefer to make sunflower, barley or corn pictures using the templates
provided below. Use green tissue paper to add leaves and stems if desired.
