Richard Bartholomew Richard Bartholomew’s Carnival career began in 1973 and continues up to the present. His own children's band started with 20 children and grew steadily to a bumper 600 kids! His bandleader days ended in 1996 after 23 years during which he won 12 band of the year titles. But his designing skills continued and he designed for several bands at home for many many years and then went further afield and designed bands for New York, Toronto, Grenada and the British Virgin Is. He also conducted workshops in the East Midlands in Great Britain and produced bands for three cities, Nottingham, Leicester and Derby. In 1994, he was awarded the Humming Bird Medal for his contribution to culture in Trinidad and Tobago. In 2003, he was commissioned by the Cayman Batabano committee to design and produce bands for their Junior Carnival and maintained that design position until 2014. Presently, he continues to design and produce costumes both at home and abroad. LaToya Als Mystique Mas was founded in 2012 by Latoya Als. She began her journey into the carnival culture arts at a young age. After her first experience, she was instantly addicted. She began to help produce mas for various big bands in Toronto. Latoya decided to take her love of mas making to another level when she decided to start designing her own sections for other carnivals in Toronto, Miami, Houston, Nottinghill, Grenada, Barbados and Cayman Islands.
