Take 20 minutes every night before going to bed and go over. 1) Archipelago- a group of closely scattered islands. 2) Atoll- ring- shaped island formed by coral buildup on the rim of an underwater volcano. 3) Canyon- deep, narrow valley with high steep walls. 4) Delta- Triangular section of land built up at a river’s mouth. 5) Glacier- large body of ice that moves across the earth’s surface. 6) Jungle- Densely overgrown land with tropical vegetation. 7) Ocean- large continuous body of salt water. 8) Sea- body of salt water surrounded almost entirely by land. 9) Sound- long, wide body of water connecting larger bodies of water, larger than a channel. 10) Badlands- area of barren land with roughly eroded ridges and peaks. 11) Cape- point of land projecting into a body of water. 12) Desert- dry areas of land, desolate, waterless, and without vegetation. 13) Gulf- an area of a sea or ocean partially enclosed by land, larger than a bay. 14) Lagoon- shallow pool of water at the center of an atoll. 15) Peninsula- piece of land that is surrounded by water on 3 sides. 16) Swamp- lowland region saturated by water. 17) Bay- body of water partially enclosed by land with a wide outlet to the ocean. 18) Cave- underground hollow often having an opening in the side of a hill or cliff. 19) Dune- in deserts and on beaches, windblown sands that have formed hills. 20) Hill- part of land that rises noticeably above the rest of land. 21) Lake- body of water completely surrounded by land. 22) Plain- flat or gently rolling lands. 23) Beach- sandy, pebbly, or rocky shore off a body of water. 24) Tundra- Vast treeless plains with permafrost and small, low plants. 25) Channel- deeper part of a river or harbor. 26) FJORD- long, steep-sided glacial valley now filled by seawater. 27) iceberg- large chunks of ice that break off of glaciers. 28) Marsh- an area of low-lying, wet land. 29) Plateau- flat land higher than surrounding land with at least one steep side. 30) Valley- lowland between mountain ranges or hills, often having a river or stream running along the bottom. 31) Butte- hill that rises abruptly from surrounding area with sloping sides and a flat top. 32) Cliff- high, steep or overhanging rock face. 33) Forest- Dense growth of trees and other plants covering a large area. 34) Island- a piece of land surrounded by water. 35) Mesa- flat-topped, elevated landform. 36) Prairie- an inland grassland area. 37) Volcano- mountains formed when lava rises through the earth’s crust. 38) Canal- an artificial waterway used for irrigation or travel. 39) Continent- one of the seven large landmasses on earth. 40) Geyser- natural hot springs that emits a column of water and stream into the air. 41) Isthmus- narrow piece of land that connects two large land masses and separates two bodies of water. 42) Mountain- land that rises above surrounding land with steep slopes and a peak or summit. 43) River- a stream of water considerable volume. 44) Waterfall- steep descent of water from a height 45) Harbor- a sheltered area of water where ships can anchor safely. 46) Mouth- the part of the river where it’s waters flow into another body of water. 47) Oasis- a fertile place in the desert where there is water and some vegetation. 48) Strait- a narrow waterway connecting two large bodies of water with land on either side. 49) Tributary- a stream or river that flow into a larger stream or river.
