I am happy to bring to your attention the fact that we
now have on our website live streaming of all church
ceremonies at Christ the King. This development was
prompted by requests from various people who
wanted their out-of-town and out-of-country relatives
and friends to be able to see their weddings, baptisms,
etc. It has the added benefit of enabling our
homebound parishioners to participate online in all of
our Masses. Also, for parents who cannot make it to a
school Mass when their son or daughter is lecturing,
serving, etc. , they can do the next best thing and watch
it online. All you have to do is go to the parish website,
www.ctk-daphne.org and click the live stream on
the front page. The capability to view the stream on
iPhones, iPads and other mobile devices will be added
soon.
Incidentally, when this online streaming ability was
initiated, we also installed security cameras in the
church. These cameras are active 24/7 and provide for
the protection of all of us.
I trust that this development is a step in the right
direction for our parish.

Ladies Sodality Festa
The Ladies Sodality would like to thank all who attended the FESTA ITALIANA for all of your support. A very special
thank you also goes to the over 100 volunteers who showed up to assist in all of our efforts. Many of our
parishioners donated items for the Krafters Booth, Trash and Treasure, the Jewelry Booth and many wonderful
baked goods and pizza. It takes so many different talents to make the day a success. The winners of the raffle were:
First prize – Paul Soutilo, Second prize – Cathy Hafner and the Gift Basket – Jerry Boyett. Mary Francis won the
Auburn Quilt and John Crane won the Alabama Quilt.
1st Annual CCD Super Sunday
In celebration of another successful year of children’s religious education, all Kindergarten through 8th Grade
students participated in field day events. Father Victor led the festivities and served as scorekeeper. Classes are now
on summer break and will resume on September 6th. For more information, contact our Parish Catechetical Leader,

Silver Saints in Tennessee
It doesn’t get any better than this! The Silver Saints just returned at the end of April
from their trip to Tennessee. It was an amazing trip and they were an equally
fantastic group. Jacque Odom says that she wishes more could have gone, and that
folks just don't know what they are missing.
Deacon Bill blessed the members before their departure, and the participants
remained blessed, as the weather was good throughout the trip. Once they arrived in
Memphis, participants waited for the renowned March of the Ducks at the Peabody
Hotel. After a tour of the city, the group dove in to Dyer’s Burgers on Beale Street for
a taste of their famous fried Twinkies. Among many other memorable stops was a
hilarious show in Nashville and a tour of Graceland with a visit to the gravesite of
Elvis Presley.
“It is a great time to build fellowship and spend time
together and share our faith and experiences,” says
Jacque Odom, leader of the Silver Saints. Trip leaders try
to pack as much in the trip as funds will allow. Many of
the meals and activities are included on the trips. “We
do not try to make money on these trips—they are selffunding. That way we keep the price low so our
members can afford it,” states Jacque.
Everyone said they had a great time and want to go again. The group’s next meeting was a potluck
on May 17th, and they watched a DVD of a show they saw in Nashville. The group plans to meet
through the summer. They will not take another long trip until the fall, but they plan to attend the
play Mary Poppins in June. They also continue to bowl and have lunch together once a month. If you
would like to learn more about this excursion, or participate in any of the many other events in the

a safe environment,
as well as spiritual
nourishment,

young
children
while
parents
attend Mass without
distraction.
The nursery is available on Sundays during the 8:30 am
and 11:00 am Masses in the Immaculata Center. Infants to
3 years of age are welcome in the nursery. No reservation
is necessary. Adult volunteers are needed to help
supervise. Child Protection training through the
Archdiocese of Mobile is required for all adult
participants.

the lesson of respect for life in our Catholic faith. At the
end of the rally, each class competes with their loudest
chant supporting Pro-Life. Congratulations to our 7B
class who had the most spirit!
Saints Life Seminary Run
CTK Catholic School participated in the annual Saints
Life Seminary Run to kick off Field Day. Our Student
Council President presented a check to Director of
Priestly Vocation, Fr. Travis Burnett, for $1600 from
our school.
As we end the 2014-2015 school year, CKCS would like
to extend a huge thank you to all our volunteers who
have helped in so many ways to make this another
great year. Also, a special thank you to the PTO
Executive Committee who, as always, does a fabulous
job coordinating the many events throughout the year.
Pro Life Rally
Jr. High students participated in a special program at
CTK Catholic School. Each year our 8th grade students
host a Pro-Life Rally for their fellow classmates. Guest

These Men They Call Knights
GEORGE HUTH, our Grand Knight is stepping down after 3 years of dedicated
service to the Knights of Columbus Council 2737. During his tenure, the council received
the prestigious Star Council Award, gave over $8,000 to our Seminarians toward their
education, another $8,000 to parish organizations and local charities and over 10,000
hours of service. George ushers at the 8:30 Mass every Sunday and is always willing to
help some one in need. He and his lovely wife, Rita live in Daphne, own and manage
Snelling & Snelling Personnel Agency. George is a loving caring man that wears the armor
of Jesus Christ.
Visiting Knight TERRY NOONAN from Newfoundland, played and sang beautiful Irish
songs and ballads at our Fish Fry on February 27, 2015. Thanks to Terry, this was our
most successful Fish Fry of the season.
Ladies Sodality St. Valentine Tea
The Ladies Sodality of Christ the King held their 5th Annual St. Valentine Tea honoring their friends and loved ones with the
theme "What a Friend We Have In Jesus.” The Very Reverend Paul Zoghby, pastor of St. Margaret of Scotland, was the guest
speaker. He ended his talk by serenading the ladies and guests singing "On Mobile Bay" a cappella. It was a wonderful afternoon
of coming together for friends, family members and meeting new people! Each table is decorated differently by the members of
the Sodality, and everyone helps, cooks and cleans up!

Comments by Publishers and Others – R. Reid
COMMENTARY – Travel with Fr. Martin and his
companion, as they explore many places where Jesus
stood or walked or preached and places where many of
his miracles were performed. Fr. Martin a Jesuit is a
story teller with deep imagining capabilities. As a Jesuit,
Father was taught, in periods of meditation, to “place
himself” within the meditation, thus bringing greater
reality to his study of scripture. His is a highly
developed skill and Fr. Martin imagines you right into
the life and times of Jesus. A pilgrimage not to be
missed.

Introduction—Who Is Jesus?
Jesus is walking with his friends to Caesarea Philippi, a
town roughly twenty-five miles north of the Sea of
Galilee. The story comes midway through the Gospel of
Mark. Out of the blue Jesus asks, “Who do people say
that I am?”
His friends seem caught off guard. Perhaps they are
embarrassed, as when someone mentions a taboo topic.
Perhaps they have been discussing that very question
furtively, wondering who would be forthright enough
to ask Jesus about his identity. Maybe Jesus had even
overheard them arguing over who he was.
The disciples offer halting responses: “John the Baptist;
and others, Elijah,” they say, “and still others, one of the
prophets.” That’s probably a fair summary of popular
opinion at the time. Herod, the first-century ruler of
Galilee, thought Jesus might be John the Baptist come
back to life. A number of Jews believed that Elijah’s
return would herald the reign of God, which some in
the region expected to come soon. And the comparison
to a prophet like, say Jeremiah seemed sensible
because of the similarities between the prophet and
Jesus. But the disciples are careful to avoid saying what
they believe.
So Jesus asks them directly, “But who do you say that I
am?”
Who is he? Why another book on this first-century
Jewish man? Why have I spent years studying the life of
an itinerant preacher from a backwater town?. . .

Blessed Seelos Lenten Choir In Action
Stations of the Cross The choir members
During Lent, our Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Prayer
Group prayed the Stations of the Cross with members
from the St. Lawrence group and the Florence, AL group
in the backyard of Ethel Smith in Daphne. At the last
station, after saying the Sorrowful Mysteries of the
rosary, Father Victor Ingalls and Caleb Todd burned
prayer requests by the stone colored statue of Blessed
Seelos from all five Blessed Seelos prayer groups in
Alabama as the group sang “Christ be our Light.”
PEA 4th Anniversary
Celebration a Great
Success!
In February, over one hundred guardians gathered to
express their love and fellowship at the 4th anniversary
celebration of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration. Christ the
King parish is blessed to offer the only Perpetual
Eucharistic Adoration site in Mobile and Baldwin
counties. Christ the King draws weekly over 450 hourly
“guardians” from Mobile, Loxley, Gulf Shores, Atmore,
Spanish Fort, Daphne, Montrose, Fairhope and Point
Clear who come to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
If you are interested in falling more in love with Jesus,
consider spending time in prayer with Him once a week.

empty cupboard. Our choir is a great group of people!
