IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Membership
Enjoy the benefits of membership by joining the YMCA. Savings on summer
camp is just one of the ways your family can benefit by being a member of the
Y. Learn how your family can grow in spirit, mind and body by taking a tour at
one of our Manatee YMCA branches, located in Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton
and Parrish. Join the Y when signing up for Summer Camp and we will waive
the Joining Fee (up to $50 Savings).
Mandatory Camper and Parent Orientation
Thursday, June 1st at 6:00p at all branches. Campers will receive a Camp
Packet that includes daily schedule, “things to know” information sheet, camp
events and activities, parent manual, T-shirt and camp bag.
Financial Assistance
Registration begins for Members March 13 / All Others March 20. Campers are
able to register for one week, several, or all. Camp is available Monday through
Friday from 9:00a-4:00p. An extended day is available from 7:00a-9:00a and
4:00-6:00p. Campers must arrive by 9:00a on field trip days.
Financial assistance is available to those who qualify thanks to generous
contributions to our Annual Campaign. Applicants must bring a current 1040
form and include number of people in the household. If 1040 form is not
available, another form of income verification is required to apply for a reduced
rate to attend camp. To apply for financial assistance, please visit the Welcome
Desk at any Manatee YMCA branch.

Members $125, All Others $175
There is a one time registration fee of $30/child on or before May 14, fee
increases to $50 per child after May 14. There is also a deposit required at
sign up of $30/week/child which is applied to weekly fees. Deposits are nonrefundable and non-transferable. Breakfast and lunch provided by Manatee
County School District are included in camp fees. Weekly balance payments
minus deposit fee (paid in advance to reserve your week) is due no later than
the WEDNESDAY BEFORE each week the camper attends. An additional $15
late signup or payment fee will be applied after each Wednesday. ELC funds
only accepted at Bradenton Branch.

fee to your cart in addition to reserving weeks attending camp. Additional

C.I.T. Counselor In Training Program
Ages: Completed 8th Grade
The Summer Counselor-In-Training Program is a leadership training program for teens who enjoy
working with children in a camp environment and are interested in becoming future Camp Counselors.
This program provides C.I.T.’s with hands on experience working with younger campers and the
opportunity to cultivate their skills and knowledge in the day camp setting. These life skill experiences
help develop the whole person and will help youth to realize their potential. Participants will earn
community services hours while learning and having fun. An application to participate in this
program must be completed, available at manateeymca.org or stop by the Welcome Center at
the Y. All participants will be interviewed and those selected will be able to register for the
C.I.T. program.

Things to Know About Summer Camp
1. Come dressed for outdoor activities and wear tennis shoes and shorts or pants.
(NO Crocs, sandals, open toe shoes or skirts are to be worn).
2. Remember to put sunscreen on before coming to camp, and also send sunscreen with
your child so they can reapply later in the day, if needed.
3. Bring bathing suit and towel each day for swim time.
4. The Bradenton Branch will be providing breakfast and lunch each day of Summer Camp
through the County lunch program, except for the last 2 weeks of camp. Each Tuesday will be
chicken nugget lunch and Friday pizza lunch for an additional fee. Cantina will be open each
morning and afternoon to purchase snack and cold beverages. Campers at all of our Y camps
need to bring a morning and afternoon snack and may bring a water bottle to have water all
day long.

This camp will inspire kids through hands-on activities in the areas of science,
technology, engineering and math. Program 9-12p (ages 10-14).
Camp will build leadership and decision-making skills, teach safety, and provide the
tools needed to be a successful babysitter. Introduction to infant and child CPR and
First Aid included. Program 9-12p (Middle Schoolers Only).
Etiquette Camp
Through games and role playing, campers will learn eye contact, confidence in every
situation, a good handshake, how to be a good friend and much more.
Program 12:30-3:30p (ages 10-14).
Fun With Food Camp
Campers will learn how to make nutritious foods while competing in cooking challenges
and creating their own recipe book. Program 9-12p and 12:30-3:30p. (ages 5-14)

Parrish “Camp Rivers Edge”
The Parrish YMCA Day Camp (Camp Rivers Edge) is loaded with fun and
offers all of the benefits of traditional camp - new experiences, safety, skill
building, a sense of community and lasting friendships. Weekly field trips,
weekly themes, Outdoor Adventures such as Archery, sports and swimming at
our camp pool. Camp gives your child the opportunity to express themselves
creatively and independently with old and new friends.
Activities Include
Swimming, Sports, Field Trips, Arts & Crafts, Archery, Water Slides, Summer
Games, and more. Weekly themes such as Pirate & Princess Week, Sports
Week, Circus Week and Superhero Week.

Speciality Camps are an opportunity for children to try out popular interests under the
guidance of trained instructors. These camps are focused programs designed to build
understanding, skills and friends with other campers that have the same interests.
Families that are not interested in signing up for full day camp may opt to sign up
for only the 2 hours of speciality at a Non-Camper rate. These camps are designed in
sessions to build on basics and encourage continuity to allow for optimized learning and
growth in each area. All Campers are encouraged to sign up for the suggested groupings.
In addition to the selected specialty, all full day campers will participate in traditional camp
activities such as swimming, arts & crafts, theme days, group games, field trips and more.
Swim Camp
Entering 1st -9th Grade Swimmers will strengthen their skills by following the National YMCA Model for

Entering 2nd-9th Grade
Fun projects rotate throughout the 2 weeks using different mediums such as paint,
yarn, beads, foam, and more! Campers are encouraged to be creative through each
project. Program only 2-4p.
Dance Camp

Circus Camp
Entering 2nd -7th Grade This camp teaches the basic fundamentals of ballet, tap, hip hop & jazz for those
with little or no dance experience. Campers will acquire confidence and techniques of
modern dance. Emphasis is placed on rhythm, coordination, and fun! Campers will also
participate in traditional camp activities such as swimming, arts & crafts, theme days,
group games, field trips and more. Program only 2-4p, Friday 12-2p.
Specialists work with the children to improve fundamentals including shooting, dribbling
and passing along with defensive growth. Daily program includes physical fitness, skills
development and organized soccer games. Program only 9:45-11:45a.
A unique new experience for campers interested in circus and aerial arts disciplines.
Enjoy swinging from the rafters and learn the basics from our professional team of
experienced staff and then showcase their new skills with a performance. Program
only 2-4p, Friday 12-2p.

Specialists work with campers on fundamentals including shooting, dribbling and

Do you like math and science? Are you interested in how things work, enjoy problem
solving and working with a team? If so, you might be a future engineer. Specialists work
with campers to create, design and build projects. Program only 2-4p.
Entering 2nd -7th Grade A camp for aspiring singers and actors. Campers will learn popular musical routines
and end with a mini production for the entire camp. Program only 2-4p, Friday 12-2p.
Enrichment Camp
Entering 1st – 4th Grade
Get academic support for approximately 45 minutes a day 5 days a week from 8-9a
by college educated tutors and trained counselors. Teaching will consist of a mixture
of formal lessons and subject based activities with an emphasis on math and reading.
This add-on can be combined with any camp. Program only 8-9a

The Y’s Healthy Kids Day, a FREE community event, is the nation’s largest health
day, bringing children and families together and teaching good health & nutrition.

SAFETY AROUND WATER
Free Introduction to swimming program
As part of National Water Safety Month in May, the Manatee YMCA encourages parents to take
an active role in their child’s safety. Teaching children how to be safe around water is not a
luxury, it’s a necessity. The YMCA’s Safety Around Water program can help make sure they learn
essential water safety skills. The Manatee YMCA’s Safety Around Water program is held in the
Spring each year and is FREE to children ages 3-12yrs.

*NEW* SUMMER SWIM LEAGUE
Rates: $120 Members, $240 for Non-Members
The Manatee YMCA Summer Swim League provides kids ages 5-18 an opportunity for them to “get
their feet wet” with competitive swimming in a fun, positive environment. Team members make
significant improvements in proper swim technique during the course of the summer. More relaxed
than a year-round swim team, the Summer Swim Team is a good gauge to see if your child is ready
for competitive swim.
