THE CARD CATALOG AND ONLINE BOOKS Mabee-Simpson Library Catalog WorldCat / Interlibrary Loan: If the library does not own a book you need, you can order the books from interlibrary loan while in WorldCat. There is a .50 cent fee and Ms. Whittenton will email or call you when they come in so you can pick them up. Articles can also be ordered and they cost .05 cents per page. For more information click the link “Interlibrary Loan” in the left column at: <http://library.lyon.edu> EBooks: These books are completely online. You can find them in the “Books, Videos, and Dvds” linkScroll down through the list and click on “Netlibrary” and you can view them. These books are also listed in the Mabee Simpson Library Catalog. When you see one listed it will have [computer file] next to the title. Click on the URL and follow the links into the book. Library of Congress Subject Headings- This link, under “Books, Videos, and Dvds” will show you the call number to specific topics in your area. For example: World Religions = BL 74-99 BOOK REVIEWS In about any of the databases, there is usually a box where you can select: book review. To find reviews about your book, type in the title of the book and select the review option. For most searches, Atla is a good place to start. DISSERTATIONS To read summaries of dissertations use Dissertation Abstracts. You can use the same Inter-library Loan link to order them. You can also specify thesis/dissertations in WorldCat in one of the subtype limits box. JOURNAL ARTICLES You may find material listed under the link: Journal Articles, located on the main page: library.lyon.edu. These are multisubject databases. They are: Academic Search Premier, Research Libraries, LexisNexis, Project Muse, and JSTOR A subject list of religion journals in print and electronically can be found in the link: Full-Text electronic or print journals. Use the Subject box, select Philosophy and Religion, and follow the links. The citation linker is also very helpful if you know the citation and want to use it to find the online article. Search for Article Follow this link to get to the full text article that is in another database that we own. Sometimes we may have the article in another database that you can get to. Fill out an ILL form for this article This is a link to a form that you fill out to get an interlibrary loan article. Sign in to My Ebscohost: In Atla, create an account so you can save your searches for later. If you don’t create an account, your folder will be lost the minute you exit any Ebsco database. Chief among the databases listed is Atla, a database of scholarly works (articles and books) on religious topics. It provides full-text or citations of the articles it lists. If you find a citation in its listings that you'd like to read, it can lead you to full text in our other databases by using the 360 icon. Click on the 360 icon and drill into the links.
