‘Festival of Christmas’ Market
with special guests the Military Wives Choir
Santa will be arriving by boat!
...and the Yard’s first ever Christmas lantern parade
Still on the hunt for locally produced,
stunning Christmas gifts? Then come
down to the Royal William Yard for a
festive lunch and explore the unique
gifts on offer at the magical Christmas
market in the stunning surroundings
of the Factory Cooperage building.
The Military Wives Choir will be
performing at 2.45pm, and at 4.30pm
to sing Santa in, who will be arriving on
the Plymouth RNLI Lifeboat at around
4.45pm, landing in the Royal William
Yard harbour. To add to the magic, The
Great Bullzini will do his jaw-dropping
wire-walking outside Ocean Studios
and there will be stilt-walkers, chestnut
sellers and mulled wine aplenty.
Meanwhile, inside Ocean Studios,
there will be a chance to visit their
Christmas Show and also meet the
sculptors, painters, jewellers and other
resident artists there as they open
their studios to the public for the
weekend. There will even be the chance
to try out arts and crafts yourself!
This year also sees the first ever
Christmas Lantern Parade at the Yard,
beginning at 5.00pm. Prizes have been
donated by some of our favourite
restaurants: Bistrot Pierre; Wildwood
and River Cottage, and visitors are invited
to bring along their own lantern and
join in the parade for a chance to win.
Whether it’s a lantern made from a jam
jar, elaborately designed paper lanterns
or a traditional Dickensian lantern,
everyone is welcome to join the parade
and light up the Yard this Christmas.
Travelling to the Yard
Royal William Yard has parking for over
500 cars. By public transport, the 34
bus travels from Derriford to the City
Centre and stops at Royal William Yard
roundabout, whilst numbers 3, 21/21A
and 81 stop at Stonehouse Bridge which
is a 10 min walk to the Yard. By boat,
the RWY Water Ferry runs on the half
hour from the Barbican to the RWY from
10.30am. Last ferry leaving the Yard is
at 5pm. The nearby Cremyll Ferry links
Cornwall and runs every half hour.
